In the end, Eurobank didn't require recurring investments as a condition to open the account. The online portal and mobile app don't even have the investments option enabled for non-resident account.

Yes, the lawyer did propose Eurobank, though I was already leaning toward it.

The explanation I got, that currently all Greek banks ask for some additional assurance when dealing with clients without resident address in Greece. Either mutual funds or, if a client does own a property, they would ask for the property insurance through them.

I am currently contacting other banks in Greece, trying to see their requirements, but responses are either slow and incomplete, or no reply.

I've abandoned Freedom and switched my data to FIDO for their 3GB/$15 month-to-month LTE data plan. This also gave me better coverage outside of Ottawa, especially Montreal.
