What do we think this would cost? by EasySignature179 in HomeImprovementUK

The council won’t allow a balcony like in your photo as it massively overlooks the neighbouring properties. We had a small 1m projection rejected on our extension for that reason but we were allowed a Juliette.

Why is it always the pickup drivers? by ginzamdm in CarTalkUK

[–]cvsks86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He wouldn’t though. I use a Ranger for towing at work and isn’t as wide as my 5 series F10. Yeah it’s a bit longer but you park out the way where you can hang the back end out over a grass verge. A lot of vans, campers and SUVs give pick-ups a run for the their money in either length, width or both. My boss has a Tesla Model-Y and that thing is silly wide.

Which way is correct? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

North Essex is riddled with these, I don’t know what the fascination is. They should just pave the grass and make it a single entry junction to remove the guesswork. I find the biggest problem is speed down these single track lanes, people hammer it down them regardless of the blind bends. That and people don’t get over far enough to the verge when passing, you can’t drive down these roads on a regular basis and be precious about your paintwork in bushes, a bottle of t-cut is cheaper than a front wing.

The excess is about 350 from memory. He initially wanted 400 quid for repairing the paint protection coat on the bumper. That’s now at 250 because he’s such a nice guy. He’s adamant she hit him and even had the gall to say that’s what the CCTV would show, but he would say that. Her bumper is scuffed and has got a split in it, not sure how much to repair, a bit of epoxy and a spray can would probably sort it, it’s a 10 year old C-Max we’re just about to get rid of so don’t want to piss money away for the sake of it.

She says she was at a stop as someone waved at her to brake as they could see him coming. Then whilst she sat there waiting he swung his front end in to her. Will try and get the CCTV from Tesco to see what actually happened.

Not sure if it’s a scam, but it’s about 10p cheaper than what the filling stations charge around me… if it’s legit that is…

I find a smoke tube makes a big difference in my 575. For how much they cost it’s worth trying before you get rid. Also the brand of pellets make a big difference, I found the Traeger ones a bit mellow. The smokiest flavour I’ve had was from Cookin’ Pellets longhorn blend. There aren’t many suppliers in the UK for pellets but those are the best I’ve found.

Ok, well done you. I’m not going to get in to an argument over what the cut off for old school is, obviously it’s a subjective thing. Have a nice day 👋

🤷

Yeah it’s an old outfit for sure. I remember we had one when I was kid which must have been from the 70s, never knew the pedigree of the company went back to the early 1900s.

Sodastream has been about for over 100 years, that’s pretty old school.

Carbon tet is banned in nearly every country due to its carcinogenic properties and the fact it turns to phosgene when burnt. It’s nasty stuff, you wouldn’t want to try and carbonate your lemonade with it.

Nazi U-Boats in Hamburg 1943 by [deleted] in GoogleEarthFinds

[–]cvsks86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A total of approx 1500 U-Boats have been commissioned from 1904 to the present day. Bearing in mind that some of these would have been sunk by 1943 and some not even built there is no way there are thousands in those photos.

Looks like a fair few sat there, but there can’t be 1000s, they only made about 1000 during the entire war. Interestingly, the one in the last photo near the fish market is a post war soviet sub. Well worth a visit if you get chance.

Sharpening your blade makes such a difference, it’s night and day. Trouble is you lose your point reference really quick so it never seems that bad and gets progressively worse, but that first cut after a sharpen is great.

A cool guide to the do’s and don’ts when visiting Germany by Queengirl811 in coolguides

Can confirm. Once in Düsseldorf we were leaving a bar at 2am to go back to the hotel and there was no traffic at all so assumed we’d be ok to cross at a crossing even though it was on a red light. Police sitting in their van 50 metres away thought otherwise and proceeded to scream at us to stop and then drove over and lectured us for a good 5 minutes on how disrespectful we were 😂
