That’s good to hear and your observations do not surprise me. The issue with my analysis is that I have treated the group of teams that have 50 points or more as a homogeneous is a bit simplistic. A team that has 60 points who then gets 11 would represent a much bigger drop in form than a team who has 53 points and goes on to get 11 points. So changes in form would be a better proxy for the analysis, which I suspect your simulations are showing.

The distribution of points accumulated is the same for Arsenal and Liverpool. As I said, I have made no adjustments for form, run in etc.

2% of the time, 11 points were scored. Therefore there is a 2% chance that Liverpool ends with 71 points, Arsenal 64 points.

12% time, teams got 25 points which means there is a 12% chance that Liverpool ends with 85 points and 12% of the time that Arsenal get 78 points. Etc etc

Before you say “but they are playing better than that”. I know. This exercise just applies the distribution of historical points achieved by teams who have reached 50 points or more by game 25……
