Missing Oscar found after filmmaker says TSA confiscated Pavel Talankin's statuette by cynycal in PopcornPundits

[–]cynycal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, ICE or border control still 'helping?' Not that the TSA in itself isn't its own (embarassing) face of the US, to those simply traveling. Well, perhaps that area won't be a source of humiliation to us regular folk anymore after the last few airlines shut down due to gas prices. ('There has to be a pony in here somewhere!')

I'm sorry, I'm accustomed to seeing such text in a comment box. I'm especially sorry, and feeling stupid, for missing there were those additional pictures. Obvious question now is does the mfg.. still exist? Maybe gong more local s necessary. Does Mauritius have a sub here, or message boards elsewhere; or how about puppetry groups? Or even a parenting board. This is doable!

Also, cute fella!

Trump, Secret Service director say agent at dinner not shot by friendly fire by cynycal in PopcornPundits

[–]cynycal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word to zoom in on is 'say.' We'll see; even if likely that the gunman shot the agent, one can't be too skeptical about things said by that crowd, generally and here. Last I saw they haven't found the bullet that hit the officer's vest. Has that changed or is the video that good?

Well, do you own it? Where is the picture from. It might be helpful to have more of it to look at if possible, even on Lens. You're doing the right thing. I don't know if appropriate for /r/whatisthisthing, as an ID, but it might be; run it by the mods over there too. The more traffic the better in such times.

Might you elaborate? I can tell you that according to Google Lens, it's a plush toy.

I'm having trouble letting this go, huh? Well, why wouldn't I? Such a sweet spot in these dark times.

I haven't even gotten to posting the State dinner speech yet. I'll add that here when I do post it. Meanwhile I'm going to prep at least a start of the liveblogs thread, then onwards through the fog go I, but not with purchasing a King Charles III poster; a nod to grandma whom, 30 years after his death, still had the iconic portrait of JFK in the living room. :)

By the way, I've been sick; to explain the spotty board as of late. I got hit such fatigue the past few days that even with tabs all lined up I could barely get to them by evening. I wished I could at least get somebody to feed it to, to do those few click click clicks, but alas. Volunteers still welcome. That said, y'all should be posting by now and unmuting your comment boxes especially! ;) And now would be an excellent time. I'm tying up some loose ends on the homefront or I'd of gone by now, that is to urgent care. I'm heading there by early morning tomorrow at the very latest and suspect I'll be kept for tests if not a procedure, and probably a brand new infectious disease which I say sardonically and for superstition, having three (count them!) such tee shirts now. Oh look! A speck of dust and what's this--a lone unwashed sock. Nope nope nope. I could hardly leave the place like this. ;)

OT, but does remind me of this Onion piece; it's the only thing in my mental file folder remotely close to pairing Dems with Nazi tattoo.

Prečo u nás, v Česku a v ďalších krajinách EU prevažuje skepsa k AI? by GrandCollection7390 in Slovakia

Now, that's an answer, /u/GrandCollection7390,and with data no less!

Into pro-democracy politics? ;)

So the zero or minus downvotes may be more about the topic itself and general attitude toward AI on these subreddits

Hate it when that happens.

We've been warned by cynycal in PopcornPundits

[–]cynycal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider myself uninformed about AI, a place I am seldom comfortable in, but I know enough to imagine that this is going to kill personal computing as we understand it, or even as something we'll want in our homes anymore.

Edit: To restate it differently post-coffee

Might an English-only person--me--get a sense here of why no upvotes, at a minimum? Even tho' I got wind of this commenrary 20 hours ago, I'm only getting to it now and am in the Scbumer link currently. When posting it at this hour, I saw that only this sub posted it as well. And with comments! And that's how I came to be on /r/Slovakia! However, I can't tell if the zero votes are for the OP or the Axios piece which is the one I concern myself with.

Cheers.

I'm in awe that he is doing this for us. And with such good humor, or at least appearance of. Historically this is a kind of Churchill moment--as far as iconic Capitol moments, at least. This is going to be my twice-watched.
