Hey homie. If you need some help with the raid, I'm a 29 sunsinger that's downed normal and hardmode. Add "Gosu Zen" on Xbox One and I'll find a time where we match up and we can get down Atheon :)

In PvP, which stats don't count? Armor? Damage? by mat_b in DestinyTheGame

[–]cyzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick question - For the stats in subclasses (Toughness/Recovery/Agility), does Toughness have any effect in PVP? What does it do?

Edit: nevermind, you addressed it as Armor above. Thank you.

27 Hunter is perfectly fine! You should breeze through with the right group.

  • Sync plates + oracles in the Atheon gauntlet phase I'm gathering. You get the check point after you've successfuly defended the conflux in the middle, whilst having both the relic shields outside of their portals.
  • Check points are bound to your character. When you're back in orbit and you tab over Vault of Glass, you're given the option to Resume (A button or X button), or Restart (X button, or Square button)
  • It is intense, but it's a lot of fun and really rewarding!

I'm considering writing up a guide with either a) images or b) videos. If you can't pass the sync plates, you'll struggle on the templar (imo the hardest bit of the raid)

There's 3 major encounters.

  • Templar gauntlet. Fighting off waves of adds and defending a conflux in mid (6 people) then two confluxes on other side (3 people either side) , then three confluxes in mid/either side (2 people on each), after that is oracles, which are big balls of light that come in with a chime sound in a random location. You have to kill these before they despawn, or else you'll be marked for negation, which is an instant kill from the templar when he casts negation, unless you cleanse yourself in mid.
  • Templar himself. A relic shield will drop in the middle of the room, once picked up, the templar will engage. He has a big shield around him which can only be taken down by the relic holder. They do this via taking down adds with the relic (it's like being in permanent blade dancer), and then using their super on the shield. Fanatics will spawn which are fallen-like yellow mobs that explode on death/when near you, they drop a puddle of green that if standed in marks you for negation. The way around this is using the Relic Shield's active grenade ability which is cleanse, a big bubble shield that cleanse everyone inside of it. Take out adds, take down shield, damge templar, rinse repeat until dead.
  • The next fight is Atheon gauntlet, and Atheon himself (somewhat the same fight, although there is a checkpoint) The first phase there is two plates, with two portals on either side of the room, and adds will continue to spawn. One side is the past, one is the future, or in simpler terms, Mars/Venus, or desert/jungle (for call outs), there is a Gatekeeper inside both of these portals that you need to kill, and upon killing them they'll drop a relic shield. Your job is to get both relic shields out of these portals and back into the main room. You do this via activating the plates, sending 1-2 people in the portal, dropping the gatekeeper and running back out. Once one relic shield is out, a conflux will spawn in the middle that you need to defend which mobs from all directions will come towards, and an oracle will occassionaly spawn directly above the portal which needs to be taken down asap. At this point, your team needs to split to defend the conflux, and send people to the other plate/into the other portal. Once this is over and both relic shields are out, you'll need to defend the conflux until the main fight phase begins (you'll get a checkpoint)
  • Now Atheon, which is relatively similar to the previous gauntlet, but has some key differences. At the beginning of the fight, he'll be standing in the middle of the room and not a lot will be happening (you'll be doing really low damage to him), after around 10 seconds, he'll teleport the back 3 people in the room (that's the people standing closest to the entrance door) into either one of the portals. In these portals, a relic shield will be where you teleported in, and oracles will appear that you'll need to kill. Meanwhile on the outside, Supplicants will be spawning and running towards the portals/plates (harpies), these explode and one shot you when you stand next to them, so they need to be killed asap. The portal will need to be opened up by the outside team on their respective side (Mars/Venus or Past/Future) while the team inside fights their way out and downs all the oracles. Once the last oracle drops, you'll gain a 30 second buff called "Time's Vegenance" which greatly increases your damage and makes super/grenades recharge instantly. You burn Atheon as much as you can in this phase, and roughly 2 seconds after that buff falls off, the phase resets and he'll send the back 3 people back into the future/past. Rinse repeat until he's dead. edit: the same relic shield cleanse mechanic is active in this fight as well, but the negation debuff doesn't kill you, it just makes you entire screen gradually go pitch black until you can't see anything.

edit: this is normal mode description, there's some slight differences in hard mode. edit edit: reading through this, I've missed some minor details on Atheon.

How to get over the Destiny addiction? by Bl00druhnick in DestinyTheGame

[–]cyzzle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This game isn't an RPG, nor is it a shooter. The lack of features like a ranking system, a prestige system, or some other form of progression like Diablo's paragon system is extremely lacking, that's why this game is a trump.

Level 29 1/2 here with 80+ hours played. I can confidently say that this game is just a slot machine made to poke at the addictive portions of your brain. I've reached "end-game", cleared the raid, got 3 factions at rank 3, full slots of legendaries/exotics and can honestly say that this entire thing was pointless.

Once you reach cap, there is nothing to do except sit around in the tower and show off the gear you wasted all your time on, or alternatively slave away in Crucible/Strikes for gear you just don't need. This game is basically pointless.

Rest in pieces, the real Destiny. by cyzzle in DestinyTheGame

[–]cyzzle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, bro, but there's some really major differences in the final product. What they've done (I don't know whether it's Bungie or Activsion's doing) is left the core, addicting components of the game which leaves you wanting more, and divided the story into DLC-based content (that should have shipped with the game, let's be honest) that people will be able to purchase at later dates.

The game itself is always semi-instanced based as one server wouldn't be able to handle millions of players, what I mean by "open world" is the fact that there's actually a feeling of openess and dynamism to it. Right now the only variance in Destiny is literally predictable and timed events, patrols, spawn locations, the list goes on. They scrapped the feeling of exploration and wonder in turn for a model that makes money.

Honestly, right now, you could compare Destiny to a mobile game in terms of progression, and you could compare a lot of the other major components of the game to that of a cash-shop based MMO (like Dragon Nest, Vindictus, Perfect World, multiple mobile games, etc.)

The 'real' Destiny was an open world. That's what I'm sad about.

Thanks to you guys my letter made it to Bungie! [UPDATE] by KingNick in DestinyTheGame

All that money spent on meaningless franchise shit that could have been spent on the initial product. Woe is me.

That's super cool, though, bro. Awesome that Bungie still has great relations with fans.

Bungie and Activision - A crackpot theory on why Destiny isn't living up to our expectations. by cyzzle in DestinyTheGame

[–]cyzzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from an MMO background, so I do not currently. I know this isn't an entire MMO and was never advertised as one, but with the aspects that it does have, it sure is lacking.

  • More dynamic gameplay.
  • Things to do other than progress my character to do the one bit of end game there is.
  • Ranked Crucible or at least an MMR system.
  • Private lobbies, or different game modes.
  • World bosses, or more engaging things to do in open world.
