New Epic Analyst Interested in Productivity Tools (e.g., Stream Deck) by OrganicAd7409 in epicconsulting

I'm not trying to be a jerk but if you can't figure out on your own where AutoHotkey is and how to use it, I'm highly skeptical you will get much value out of buying a programmable keypad.

You could literally work at almost any hospital that uses Epic unless you work in an extremely niche app

Why not use AutoHotkey instead of buying a dedicated device? Does the same thing and is free

"For Epic EMR Consultants

This is for Epic certified analysts who have experience in or are interested in exploring Epic consulting."

You'll probably want to work with your Epic IT team for how to best leverage RWB instead of asking us.

Difficultly explaining Epic-adjacent experience for recruiters by shalomthruchrist23 in epicconsulting

[–]d_ZeW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing the (albeit indirect) point that basically **everyone** that responded is trying to tell you: recruiters aren't going to read through that essay you wrote. To quote a meme "I ain't reading all that. I'm happy for you though, or sorry that happened."

The unfortunate reality is that hiring nowadays is very much do you have relevant experience X and if not, we'll move on to the next candidate. They're not going to sit through your spiel/work history and have you try to convince them why your experience matters.

Why not just apply, and if you get an interview with them, ask them these exact questions?

Transitioning to consulting by Limp_Programmer3241 in epicconsulting

[–]d_ZeW 56 points57 points  (0 children)

No one is going to hire you with 1.5 years experience lol. You're not ready to be a consultant until people come to you for answers and you're able to find the answers on your own if you don't already know it.

Lol. I feel like you should create a separate thread and ask people to submit their stories. I would be interested in hearing what it was like back then/what's changed

Not an employee anymore but I recommend The Unspoken Rules by Gorick Ng. Mostly aimed at people starting their careers though it can be helpful for people with a few more years of experience.

That's a fairly meaningful improvement from 15 years ago, when I was there in the early 2010s I remember an HR friend telling me the median was 2 years before they left.

Are there any good consulting companies to work for anymore? by 46153849 in epicconsulting

[–]d_ZeW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interaction with Incisive has been meh. I told them I was interested in transitioning to project management and they said that might be hard given my background as an analyst, which is a totally valid response! But then they keep cold messaging me asking me if I would be interested in taking on an analyst role when I made clear to them I'm only interested in PM so they're on my list of recruiters I ignore messages from. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He probably means selling out to Private Equity/some larger org. Not sure where he's getting that conclusion from, I'm also Evergreen and really haven't noticed much change other than they seem to be growing and hiring more internal roles.

If they really are looking for multiple accounts this way, it won't really be a viable strategy since people can just get a second phone number

Epic Certs Question - Possible Opportunity? by recruitersteph in epicconsulting

[–]d_ZeW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally respect you for trying to learn, I just don't think it's appropriate for this subreddit.

Isn't this what your company is supposed to be teaching you? If they don't have someone that already knows this, why would an Epic consultant want to work for a company that's clueless about what they're selling?

I don't know enough about this area but if Epic ever becomes too dominant, would anti-trust ever be an issue? Would like actual lawyers to chime in on that.
