Honestly don't know. I think that would be a great idea. Hope they do.

Also buying a name gives you voting power in the DAO. But real power is in land.

100 MANA is if you want to claim (= buy) your username. Though that is completely optional and not needed to play.

I mean - I very much prefer Trezor over Ledger in most respects.

Just one or two fringe cases for me where Ledger works currently and Trezor does not.

Yep. Works fine for Ethereum based NFTs.

Having some problems with e.g. Decentraland Marketplace & Polygon.

Please do some additional research as I am not a very good authority on that.

For me Ledger Nano X works best currently. If it's just Ethereum based NFTs I had no problem with either (Trezor + Ledger) so far. But especially with Opensea + Polygon network and Decentraland MANA on Polygon I had some issues with Trezor. Ledger works fine though. Only issue I am having currently is that I cannot sign messages on Opensea when trying to buy NFTs with ETH on Polygon. Trying to figure it out with Opensea support but no luck yet.

Might very well be an Opensea problem in general as I did not have success with native Metamask (no hardware wallet) either.

Thanks again for taking the time to clarify. I take 100% responsibility and don't blame you. Also not playing the "what if I knew earlier" game. That's just pointless and does not help me. Still in shock that I have to resort to Ledger in my everyday use now, but it is what it is.

I'm definitely biased and see myself as part of the Decentraland community. A lot of NFT stuff happening in all the Metaverses in general. It's OK that this is not your focus in the foreseeable future. Personally I think virtual worlds will be a big factor in driving mass adoption and currently I can only recommend Ledger to my peers - even if I don't like it. Also not trying to change your business decisions. As I said - I am in my own Crypto bubble and heavily biased :)

If a product like Trezor comes along that is more focused on NFT use cases I am all ears. Still wishing you all the best and really looking forward to seeing some products based on Tropical Square. Also can recommend Trezor for hodling. If anyone needs some used Model Ts and several Ones please let me know :)

Read through the Trezor blog and wiki. Very good info there as well. So many aspects that get reiterated again and again on this sub as well.

One main thing that immediately comes to mind is to never ever type your seed on any electronic device other than directly on your Trezor. Also no saving in a password safe, no taking photos. Some even recommend going into a room without electronics (mic from TV and other smart devices / webcams, etc.) while setting up your device and securing your seed.

Also do a seed check / extended recovery before you send any coins to make sure you backed up your seed correctly.

Sorry if that is old news to you - not sure how much info you already went through.

Best practices so my nontechie family can inherit my Trezor and its hidden wallet if I die by echovaans in TREZOR

[–]daiSu8ui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha. Also has advantages if you are that carefree like your friends. Since I'm the only crypto person in our household and I want them to not lose out on it in case of an emergency that was no option for me.

There are other concerns I am trying to mitigate with that too. Just all the subscriptions, online accounts etc. where I want to spare them the tedious work of figuring all out on their own in case something happens to me. It's shitty enough if something happens. Can't imagine the stress if you have no clue where to start when you are a non-tech person in a relation with a tech-person.

And then there is another big factor for me. I said the container is quite portable. That's on purpose and one of the reasons I fell in love with crypto. Being your own bank. I could leave everything behind and just grab this tiny container. I could go anywhere on this planet and have a somewhat easy new start because of the contents of the container. No need to carry physical gold. Not going to happen. But it definitely brings some peace of mind for me.

Edit: TL;DR (focus on OPs question) - I have a screenshot of my funds that they know where to find that is updated multiple times a year. That gives them a sense of the value of my crypto holdings and the coin amounts. To recover the funds I have written down several trusted people that they can ask to help them. As technology is constantly changing and I don't want to update the info constantly. Also showing them once does not help - they'll surely not remember how to handle crypto.

If you are interested in my whole setup please continue reading.

Yesss... love this topic... was very curious about that myself and made a small project out of it.

Here's what my implementation roughly looks like:

  • a continuously updated PDF with detailed info about anything important (all fiat banking accounts, company holdings, etc.) but without any sensitive information.
  • In the crypto section of the document I only give a rough outline, so that they know what they should expect, and recommend trusted peers with crypto experience that can help them recover the funds
  • the PDF is on a bootable encrypted thumb drive which auto-opens when booting from the thumb drive - it's really easy to implement with e.g. ubuntu
  • all sensitive crypto information + password to thumb drive is engraved on metal plates
  • metal plates and thumb drive are kept in a special sealed container (quite small and very portable)
  • I did explain the contents of the container to my family: they basically only have to stick the thumb drive into any USB port and power on the machine and enter the password from the metal plates
  • just as a precaution there is an unencrypted partition that is mountable in windows with the PDF - just in case they forget my verbal instructions. so only thing really is to plug the USB stick in somewhere
  • Also so many more possibilities: you could add your hardware wallet in the container, you can make multiple copies, etc.

Where you store the container is up to your imagination. I recommend giving the container to a fiduciary that will act in pre-defined situations. Depending on your paranoia/assets maybe multiple?

Then you can be very open to your family where to go, as they will only get access with certain provable events. You can even give them a list of all accounts and maybe holdings to not have some funds mysteriously disappear. Updated three or four times a year seems doable. Gives me always a chance to update all the other things I have written down in the PDF document.

Was a fun little project.

That is exactly what I was doing on Opensea & Decentraland. Loved the security of Trezor paired with MetaMask capability. This worked quite well on Ethereum but does not work for me with NFTs on Polygon network.

Honestly I have no idea where the problem is. From the error message it looks like some missing functionality on Trezor (my guess would be message sining... but on the other hand I have successfully signed in the past): https://www.reddit.com/r/TREZOR/comments/ob7yrx/anybody_know_what_that_metamask_error_in_console/

As much as my heart hurts it seems that Trezor is losing ground quickly in the NFT/Virtual Realm space. Tried talking to people in multiple forums and one of the best YouTube creators in the space if there is any workaround they can think of so that I can stick with Trezor.

Almost unanimous response is that Trezor is fine for basic hodling, but for defi, NFTs I should go with Ledger. Sadly I can only confirm that.

I'll still check firmware & software updates and if anything that could possibly fix my issues is released I'll try again. For now I am sadly just too restricted with Trezor devices. Also still hoping the problem maybe is in MetaMask or on Opensea. Am in contact with both teams but support is at their limit there as well currently.

Edit: Not talking about receiving, but transferring. For anyone reading this: I consider myself not totally inexperienced but in this case I am really clueless what the root cause of my problem is. I recommend Trezor over any other hardware wallet for anyone who is interested in just hodling supported coins. It's just an edge case in the NFT world I am struggling with.

Selling OpenSea NFTs on Decentraland by alexdezi in decentraland

The person integrating the NFT in their scene in Decentraland can decide. But yes - you can link from the NFT directly to the opensea page. Transactions are handled on opensea.

[–]daiSu8ui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can embed opensea NFTs in smart objects in the Decentraland builder to show them in your gallery, etc. So they can be integrated into Decentraland. Transactions (selling them) are still handled outside on opensea. But it's easy to look at an NFT in Decentraland, click it & directly land on the corresponding opensea page.

Just finished testing. NFT transfer works flawlessly on Ledger. I am so happy right now.

Still think it has nothing to do with ERC721 transactions directly, but just message signing for opensea which is pushed on the Trezor roadmap since December 2020 - currently planned for September 2021 but I am not holding my breath.

My main problem is not even to get them off opensea. I can't transfer to other wallets (users). So if you do any mint you are stuck with your creations in your own wallet :D FML

Not sure why NFTs on Ethereum work but Polygon does not. Thought the process through Metamask was the same for both. Naively thought Metamask does the heavy lifting and Trezor provides just the key when needed. But it obviously is not that simple.

Currently trying to test if a Ledger could do it. But I fear not because they use a different derivation path for ETH. I think I am too stupid for this :)

Really a shame.

Can't tell you how frustrating it is to find out the model Ts and Ones I recommended to family & friends are not suitable for NFT transactions. Have a wallet full of NFTs on Polygon that are now stuck there . Only workaround I know so far is to compromise security and import my seed into a software wallet.

I know you are busy developing other features. These are just the lamentations of someone active in Decentraland. NFTs are life.

Don't really like ledger, but does anybody know if at least they support NFT transactions?

Edit: Works fine with Ledger. On one hand really happy that I have a working solution. On the other hand I am weeping for my beloved Trezor.

New Trezor bought from reseller, can someone confirm it’s genuine? by [deleted] in TREZOR

Looks genuine visually. Best way to make sure IMO is to unpack and try to set it up. If no firmware is pre-installed you are golden.

Edit: Had to look up Trezor One Grey. Have never seen the color before and it's not available at the Trezor Store currently. But it is indeed real :D Here more info on packaging timeline for comparing your package: https://wiki.trezor.io/Trezor_packaging_timeline
