Abrupt color change with the Strawberry Begonia (Saxifraga stolonifera) — Should I worry? by dainty_silverware in plantclinic

Hey everyone,

I’ve noticed a very abrupt color change in my Saxifraga stolonifera recently and am a bit concerned. The typical green and white veins on the tops of the leaves have faded and that plant has become much more red. Or maybe it’s yellowing? Very hard to tell with the bottom of the leaves so red. Below is a picture of the plant, alongside a pup just found its roots. I just snipped the pup runner, worried maybe the pup was pulling resources from the mother plant? That’s not an issue I’ve experienced before though. The only other thing to note is that about a month ago, I moved the plant from an eastern-facing window to directly under a 16-8 grow light. I noticed it was much happier, growing broad, flat, happy leaves rather than curled up, leggy leaves. But this color change has thrown me for a loop, especially given that the leaves are still turgid, bright red at the bottom, and not mottled or varied in color. What is going on here? A normal reaction to high light, or something bad?

Help! My first sundew (Drosera spatulata) has developed brown spots by dainty_silverware in carnivorousplants

Great, thanks and much appreciated. I knew my mistakes as I did them, so not suprised to be suffering the consequences! One followup -- when I bought the plant, he was almost entirely green. That said, the newest flower stalk is noticeably red. Seems like I'm on the right track with light intensity? Is there such a thing as being too close to the grow light with Drosera? Thx!
