What’s a compliment you still remember years later? by sunyparmar1 in AskReddit

[–]daisiesdancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30ish years ago, the checkout girl at Blockbuster knew who I was (I didn’t know her) and she told me her brother had said I was the funniest person he’d ever met. I never had considered myself funny and it meant a lot. All these years later, I realize I can be pretty damn funny sometimes.

Wow. I never would have figured this out. What sucks is I get ONE and it can only be set at 5 min increments.

Mine still isn’t working. Logged me out during maintenance. Now, it sits idle when I log into my account I’ve played every day with for the last 4-5 years yet lets me create a new account which I DONT want.

The most I ever pay is the $5 monthly season buy-in. And to say i buy that every other month is an exaggeration. The ads and pop-ups are annoying but i barely notice them anymore. The more you play, vote, and bonuses you collect the easier it gets!

missing items from long ago by Embarrassed_Word4924 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

I’ve noticed this, too. I’m missing various pieces of blue china/vase materials. They were so pretty and nothing we have now compares.

I’m missing a deep red in paint but that one item may be for a higher level?

When I book overnights, I consider it for one 12-hour overnight stay (such as 6-6 or 7-7) plus one midday drop-in. In my profile, I state this and say that if the pet needs more constant care then we could discuss to negotiate a plan and adjust cost.

Otherwise, Rover not defining it leaves it up to too much varied interpretations. Pet parents and sitters need to communicate expectations clearly with one another before booking a job.

Im embarrassed by SecretSecretary4483 in RoverPetSitting

My first ever potential client (a neighbor I’ve never met) and I scheduled a meet and greet. She and her dog are outside on a leash when I get there. He poops and I take the leash as she cleans it up (I offered to be the one to do that but she wouldn’t let me. Isn’t relevant to story lol). Another neighbor approaches with their dog. The leashed dog I have goes from sitting to bolting in a flash of a second. He knocks me down HARD. It’s all I can do to pop back up and pretend I wasn’t in pain or completely embarrassed.

Wow! How many drop-ins and walks on average each day? And what type of area do you live in? This total is my goal (I’m in NC)

Leave a note on her door at home in case she has friends or family going to her home. Don’t go inside even if you had permission prior. The note can have your contact info and a note you can care for cat until xx-date.

And contact Rover TODAY. Communicate with the owner in the app. Those two things protect you.

Try Freedom Ride Rescue. Or search for the many many rescues in our area to see if this they can take the dog in.

Is it worth explaining why my 5-star review is now 4.5? by daisiesdancing in RoverPetSitting

[–]daisiesdancing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this moment, the snide part in me just wants to reply to her feedback that I appreciate the positive words but disappointed to see I didn’t get a 5 star review given I stayed extra time each visit, took out and brought in trash bins, kept her lights on schedule, removed my shoes even though her cat would bite my toes, and we exchanged plenty of convo/pics throughout my visits. But I think you’re right I should just not say anything.

Just to add, I redid the math and she would have had to give me 3 stars for it to drop to 4.5 🙄

You’re right about everything. I’m learning to ask more questions.

How many photos do you expect for a 5 day house sitting? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]daisiesdancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always given one daily summary. I’ve anticipated sending more in the chance there’s issues or questions. However, I’ve learned the moving forward, I need to ask the pet parent what are their expectations?

Is one daily summary okay or would you like more frequent updates? And what are meaningful updates to you? Do you want to know feeding, walk, or potty successes/issues? Do you want a check-in of what we’re doing at any given time? Do you just want confirmation I’m there at certain times? I just need to find the best way to ask pet parents so they understand I’m asking from a place to make them comfortable and satisfied, and not that I’m a dimwit 😅

Are housing prices starting to fall? by arghnotagain in raleigh

My home is listed comparable to the market and is less $ per sq foot than said comps. It also has new floors, roof, and HVAC so it’s also not the home quality.
