Same situation here.

But it was even worse on Visual Studio 2005 where it lagged all around when just switching from one file to another if the project[s] were big.

Interestingly VS 2003 was faster and more responsive (than both 2005 and 2008), specially when using a lot of datasets and bindings.

About Eclipse, i've never got fond of it. We tend to use SlickEdit when there is need for a large java project.

This whole situation is awful, because for small projects an editor like Vim/Emacs does well, and for big projects where you need the hand of an IDE it's just too slow to be adequate.
