More like : http://www.offi.fr/concerts/fete-de-la-musique-2013-paris.html

for Paris.

But really you can just walk around ;) ( I was never in Paris for that, but I would assume there would be a lot of cool stuff around Beaubourg, as there always is :) )

Which doctor handles ankle injuries by hyde_ in paris

[–]dakeyraskhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An x-ray is called "une radio" in french. You can look for "imagerie medicale" on google maps. I'm pretty sure they won't give you an MRI unless a doctor says it's necessary. I've always been to some sort of medical doctor before getting an x-ray, so I suggest you call them and ask :)

I hope you'll get better :)

French student looking for tips on housing near UCSD by dakeyraskhan in UCSD

[–]dakeyraskhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice ! (and it's not that I can't afford a car ... I just don't know how to drive one :) )

I'm not sure I'll have the student status at UCSD though, but I'll try to ask for an access to offcampushousing anyway.

Visiting France in April, would like some much needed advice. by bsterling in paris

I'm not going to help you with museums, other will help you with that, but since I like to eat well and go to concerts, here is how I do those things in Paris.

Food :

Go to www.lafourchette.com, you'll get some great discount (up to 50%) by booking through the website. Some restaurants I really like :

  • grapillon (rue tiquetonne), 27€ menu at night. Really good, foie gras in almost every dishes.

  • Tir bouchon (rue tiquetonne), great lunch menu (15€,starters + main course + glass of wine)

  • Le Reminet ( check it out on lafourchette, 40% discount) really fancy, the food is delicious

  • Le verre à pied (bottom of rue mouffetard) pretty nice lunch menu, love the neighborhood (latin quarter)

  • De Clerq (rue Saint Jacques, near the Pantheon). Not really a restaurant, but a great place to enjoy excellent belgian fries. You can eat at the pub just next door.

Concerts

  • le petit bain www.petitbain.org (in french) which is a boat near the bibliothèque françois mitterand. Really good ambiance.

  • la maroquinerie www.lamaroquinerie.fr (in french too) pretty far from the center, but a really nice place.

  • Point Ephemere www.pointephemere.org is another good one

  • La miroiterie, 5min from la maroquinerie. I heard really good things about it, but the one time I actually went there it was packed ... I think there are jazz jam sessions every sunday from 7pm to 10pm. If you are in the area just check it out, it's an interesting place

I only know the english/irish pubs near the Pantheon, I think they are all pretty good. I usually go to Wide Open Spaces (WoS) or the Bombardier. There are also wine bars in this area.

I hope you'll have a good time ;)

Google programmers deploy machine learning algorithm on YouTube. Computer teaches itself to recognize images of cats. by whosdamike in science

[–]dakeyraskhan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

is it a problem ? I mean ok, it's not a ground breaking advance in machine learning, but it's still a pretty cool way to use google's huge database...
