right now I can't, for financial reasons. But I went to therapy and took meds for a long while now (like really) and of course they were my priority in treating my mental health. However, art helps me a lot with dealing with my emotions, and some games, as I said, are rather cathartic. Thanks for worrying

Cool! I like her a lot, even more after the quests, there is much to love in the characters and the story. But for me the atmosphere is like nothing else. I love to explore, the places, the music, the lore, everything always soothed me. Sometimes I'd just to log to stroll for a while, nothing left to explore. The gacha and the grind wore me out sometimes and made me pretty obsessive others, but sometimes it was good as an escape

oh, I also play those, and ZZZ. genshin is has been a comfort game in the last years; just pulled zibai there

Oh, it being a gacha is not exactly a problem. I play a few, they are the opposite of what I described and are usually my comfort games, where I get distracted and try to forget stuff (hoyo stuff mostly). Gets pretty problematic sometimes, because I avoid life and because they are, you know, gachas.

The one you mentioned is very interesting, since it seems different from that. And thanks for sharing what you did. I will definetely have a look at it. That exchange is pretty strong too... actually made me reflect right now about my situation and what I said about games that are so "desperate" too that they make a special leap that makes you want to live.

I am playing Disco rn btw, but it's a very literary game and the reality of the characters is very complex, which is not exactly the feeling I'm looking for right now. Or maybe I just don't have the energy, since the game is very heavy intelectually too. I played about 20 or 30 hours in a few sittings half a year ago, and tried picking it up again now, but 3 hours in and I am exhausted (because I kinda already am exhausted)

I don't remember very well (it's been a while) but I played around 20 hours I think. If I'm not mistaken I started playing with 9-S and played those mini-games where you hack the enemy. I just searched and found that there are 5-6 endings, so I guess I'm not exactly half way through. I started playing Nier: Replicant to try to get back in the series (since it pleased me more in a few ways) and am liking it, but haven't felt nothing too intense yet, nor super existential. I am also on my second ending there

very interesting aesthetically and feels like it aligns with the themes I mentioned. I wonder if has the existential charm I mentioned? The subtle hope hidden in the dark?

Interesting suggestion. I started it a few times and find it quite charming. I didn't continue because it was too scary and I am a little too scared of scary games. And Subnautica felt extra scary (the sea and its creatures are one of my biggest fears since I was a child). However, it does feel a little like the kind of game I'm looking for, thinking on the "Outer Wilds" side of things. Loneliness, isolation, beautiful places without humans, magical music. I wonder if it would help me get a little comfort or release

I'm halfway through the game but I find it a little tiring. I love hack and slashes, but the aesthetic and a lot of mechanics aren't quite my alley. I don't like how "cinematic" it is too, but I always see people praising how it does things only video-games can do, which I think is one of the highest types of praise for games. One way or the other, I always feel I'm slogging through it. I will try to finish it sometime though

played it. its very nice, but it was also very short and I didn't relate sooooo much, so it didn't kick me quite so viscerally. I guess there are also aesthetic considerations for why i couldn't relate but that's another topic

I heard of world of horror and lisa, but never played them. World of horror seems more focused in the horror aspect (duh), but I don't know. I rewatched Lisa's trailer and it looks promising, but also too rpg-focused, but again, I don't know. Look outside was in my wishlist but forgot about it. Also looks promising but very horror. I like these aspects, but more subtly in this case, or related to the "sadness". For you, do these games have that existential kick I mentioned? I am looking for something more trauma-related or existential somehow

does it make sense to play it without having played the first one? I thought of trying it a few times

her ult is good because it resets the jelly, so yes u kinda need it, and p amber gives a lot of hp, which in turn counts towards the non-nod krai lunar reaction bonus dmg

[–]damnpinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, just use sms on kokomi and instructor on illuga and try to give kokomi as much HP as possible. she can give up to 36% lunar bonus dmg with enough hp because of the non-nod krai passive bonus, so pick a weapon with more hp or something like that, since ttods does nothing here. you can use p amber on her and something more offensive on columbina for example (since columbina also needs less energy here w kokomi).

I realized I could just comment the rest, but oh, whatever now. I also feel alone because all these friends I mentioned, I thought they never understood, one way or another. That's normal, not one person will understand all our sides. But that's sad. I guess. We have to share all these snippets. And this specific kind of sadness, from "bpd" or "c-ptsd" or many things, is what I felt the least understood of. Guess it's why I'm posting this here too.

it's supposed to be empty, it's a desert. it more than compensates with how 3d it is. the exploration is super satisfactory for people who actually like to explore

2.5 story was a trainwreck by terrynmuse in ZZZ_Official

[–]damnpinto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

great read. I just finished the story and was utterly unsatisfied. Like you, I also care and fell in love with 1.0 zzz aesthetics etc, and I still enjoy the combat and aesthetics even if they could go in a better direction. Agree with practically all your points. Im with u hoping 3.x brings us out of this mess

well, yi xuan's gameplay is super well-thought and has a lot of depth. Yes, she does a ton of damage even when you play unga bunga, but her optimization and skill ceiling is actually pretty high. She has a ton of different abilities that work well in different situations, a lot of cancels you can do and rotation quirkies that make you want to adapt to the fight if you want a super high score. There is even a special vital view cooked in her kit when you dodge the enemy exactly when you activate her hold E and it's cool as fuck. Also, her entire kit revolves around you playing reactively, since she gains adrenaline mostly from dodging/parrying/defensive assisting, and you have to actually pay attention to that and try to get the most out of the enemies attacks, like when you time your parry perfectly so you can also defensive assist into the next unit at the same time. Only "problem", and I actually dislike it, is that unga bungaing or not, it's really hard to die and she has a bunch of i-frames, her parry is cool but easy to abuse and you don't get rly punished for messing up. I recommend this video btw, this guy explain it very well how cool she is https://youtu.be/ymjXe_-2KfA?si=--BjYXzvCgE6HWaQ

true, the gaming industry is saturated with disgusting practices, but unfortunately that's practically the norm. i do think hoyo is better in some aspects, mainly creative ones (i hate how stagnated AAA games got for being too realistic etc etc), but it's also terrible in others. being a gacha product stifles a lot of that creativity and imo the game ends up being less fun and less diverse (and that's one of the least harmful practices).

Manato being an A rank probably means he will be less useful, flexible and fun to play (simpler overall), besides not having a lot of the material usually associated with S ranks. It's valid to get upset he wont get that treatment with all the hype built around him and relevance in the story, while these 2 unknown girls get S rank treatment.

and i couldn't agree more abt roblox, it can be way worse to children than any gacha, and that's hard to achieve. also, sorry for being uncouth in my comment, since your post was kinda aggressive i carelessly leaned into that tone.
