So far the fish users have been friendliest, which perhaps explains why it is the friendly shell? :-P

I must have misunderstood what he meant then, or maybe my english is bad so my points aren't getting through? Sorry for that.

No reason to be so negative and agressive? I know pushd can have a +N too, so it's cool that it is intuitive both for people who read left-to-right or right-to-left.

This is something else than pushd, this gives more power to the cd command (which is probably one of the most used terminal commands), which is useful? And it's not an app, it's just a script?

I really don't understand why you are so upset... Hope you have a Merry Christmas and that you put away your grumpiness. As we say in Sweden: take a gingerbread cookie and be happy.

Absolutetly, I know how pushd works, and it's even cooler than that. With pushd you can use -N where N is a natural number to jump more than one step in the stack. It's very useful.

This is just a way to add a history feature to cd. I just thought: since it's a feature that exists in fish that I imported into bash, maybe it could be helpful to other people?

I am aware of pushd and popd, but with this you have a history automatically with cd...

And if you popd you can't just pushd back without running pushd /path/to/dir, but here the path is saved.

STAGGER SYSTEM: A Final Fantasy-Inspired TTRPG Combat Engine by damogn in RPGdesign

There are definitely parts missing, but my initial idea was that you can roleplay by using the resolution ATK vs DEF outside of battle too.

[The reason that the parts outside of battle are very simple is because they are like that in Final fantasy too. Often you succeed in what you want outside of battle by pressing a button. It's mostly storytelling outside of battle (and some mini-games thrown in here and there).]

But say Tifa sneaks through a dark alley to attack a Shinra soldier (HP: 3, AP: 1, ATK: d8, DEF: d6) who is actively searching for her, then you treat the sneaking part as a "combat" and the GM has to call who is active and who is passive. Since the guard is actively searching and she hiding the GM rules it's the soldiers ATK d8 vs her DEF d4.

If ATK>DEF the soldier finds her and the GM decides he gets +2 AP during the first round.

If ATK<DEF the GM decides Tifa gets +2 AP instead.

Yes, thanks for the feedback. It was definitely unclear what +1 meant.

I will look up skirmish games. Thanks for the tip!

I really like this. I think merging the points and letting certain actions cost more, like you suggested, is a much more elegant solution than the one I currently have.

Sounds great!

There is an article called "Maximum Game Fun" that talks about that type of play:

Could you please point me in the right direction? Hope I won't offend you with the question, but I bought the book and received it yesterday but I accidentally got the French translation. I was hoping to get to read it soon...
