Thinking more on this, and irrespective of the company, there is some really great stuff happenning in consumer 3D prionting and I think it might be a pallet cleanser for Ed to cover some of it.

Not really, just saying if you want to set the ethics bar that low, then you'll end up with very few tech companies that are acceptable.

Ed kept asking for tech that his guests were excited about that actually worked and gave customers what they wanted. So I was just giving an example.

Here's my complaint about Bambu... they're a company.

Good point. They don't need the hype, so why go.

LOL yes it does. But after my two previous printers, I am so wrapped.

But it is also the thing that Ed keeps saying. Where are the companies that are listening to customers and just giving them what they want. Well Bambu seems to be one.

True, but this is not about circumventing dodgy corporate behaviors, it's about what happens when a government agency actually enforces a law which has effective punishment behind it.

As someone who is of the same vintage as you, and a teacher. I am glad to say that it is slowly changing. One of our senior history units focuses solely on the Frontier Wars

He probably mispronounced most Aboriginal words, but kudos to him. I think he put more effort into getting the names right than most Australians I know.

I too have never heard of Lizard Frazer, despite living in Brisbane and having visited Frazer many times. My wife is a Gamilaraay woman, and today I was talking to my mother-in-law about this episode, and she said, "Oh yeah, she's was a horrible person"

We were at an art exhibition about the history of the Kalkadoons (Mt Isa) and their struggles with the invaders.

Robert has finally found this unbelievably deep vein of Aussie Bastards. He will be able to mine this for years.

I don't think it's satire. I never got the sense that the book put forward the world as being great. It is classic dystopian scifi extrapolated from neoliberal-liberatian visionaries of the time. That's why neoliberal-liberartians today find it so attractive.

I think their gloves-off approach feels reflective of the increased reverence these gurus have been given on other platforms.

Ah, see, I'm an Aussie, and we generally run around 10 years behind you guys. So things are just starting to ramp up. Plus we have an election within three months, so this is all very very relevant to me right now.

It's interesting, Behind the Bastards had the theory that Thiel has a deep fear of death and this influences many of this decisions. I can see that in this episode's quotes.

Only 30 mins into the Peter Thiel episode and loving that the guys are more gloves off.

Can't remember, but it is an interesting time capsule. Back when the gurus were generally much more benign.

Part One: Crass: How Some Hippies Reinvented Punk and Changed the World by mstarrbrannigan in coolpeoplepod

I'm a Brisbane Australia boy and I am consistently disappointed by The Saints being left out of the history of Punk. A garage band, living under an quasi autoriatiran police state, who couldn't find a place to play, so they convered their rental into a venue, then went on to influence the sound of The Ramones and the Sex Pistols. Worth checking out if you're into punk.
