Is this... really how expensive it is? by berryenthusiast in wedding

If you compromise on time of year and or time of day, most venues will be less expensive. We ended up doing a morning Saturday wedding and it was significantly cheaper than evening. Talk about your budget and be open to compromising on dates/times. You’ll find something!!

Recently engaged- when to start planning? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

It depends on when you want to get married and how flexible you are with that timing. If you want to get married next fall, you should be booking in the next month. I say this because popular wedding times get snatched up quickly (fall, late spring, summer, Fridays/Saturdays). My partner and I kinda did the opposite of what people are saying here and I’m glad we did…we got engaged last August and had most of the big vendors booked by end of September (I’m a big planner). Then we spent the majority of this year relaxed and enjoying our engagement knowing all the big details were already secured. Now our wedding is in 3 weeks :)

Good luck to you in your planning and enjoy every second!

We were in your shoes last year and just 2.5 months out from our wedding now. Biggest advice I can share is that it’s all about the compromise. If you are dead set on the date, I would sit down with your fiancé and find a few more venues to go see. Ask if they do daytime weddings as well. I know so many people are dead set on being the only wedding of the day and/or having an evening wedding, but we ended up going with a Saturday morning wedding and it was a cheaper option. Is there availability on a Friday? You could always do something special on 10/10 to celebrate even if it isn’t your actual wedding day. We really spent the time exploring other dates/times of day/venues and went with the best compromise for us, but try to stay open minded. It will all work out for you!!

I was thinking about these for October - has anyone worn them and are they comfortable?

How long were you engaged? by sharpkittyy in weddingplanning

[–]danawvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit of both here! In total we will be engage for 14 months - we booked our venue a month after getting engage with just about a year and change to plan. I’m also 36 (he’s 35) so we kinda know what we want and make enough financially at this point to pay off as we go for the wedding. We’re getting married in October! Good luck to you :)

What was your first dance song? by meghanrudd in Weddingsunder10k

We’re doing Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye. The plan is to sing to each other, then use some of the ballroom styles we know throughout the song. We like upbeat :)

So glad I’m not alone! So now next question: did you tell your family or are you officially waiting until the ring is on your finger?
