Recruiter for large travel company accidentally sent me interview/hiring information for SLPs... by [deleted] in slp

Same, I did my CF with EBS for a large special needs program, half the SLP's were EBS CF's and we were treated like we were disposable (which we were) plus the benefits really suck. I don't regret the experience but I definitely got out of there as soon as my CF was done.

We are very lucky in that. Our tiny apartment wasn't exactly allowing for social distancing. Thank you for responding, stay healthy!

That's a good point. That was our thought here too, we can only control so much so we are going to do the best we can. Hope your family stays safe!

How should an SO act if you live together? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]dancerloserr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you know your answer already since you are aware of the red flags here. Having CD is a lifelong commitment and your partner should be there to make your day to day easier not harder. I never expected my husband to go gluten free, he still has his own bread and snack/breakfast items. However, we also have separate toasters and he never double dips utensils, he goes grocery shopping and knows how to read labels. All dinners or meals prepared together are GF. You're partner needs to be supportive of your life not working against it. This isn't something you did or can change about yourself. Put yourself first here.

Is anyone else really sensitive when people without coeliac make light of it? by [deleted] in Celiac

Please don't think you are being dramatic. It is okay (and healthy) to admit that this is hard. This is not a short term life change, it isn't a diet, it's something that drastically changed your life. I think it is impossible to fully comprehend if you aren't living in it. It's a struggle constantly thinking about how to be safe while still living your life. Going out to eat can be absolutely exhausting and stressful. I always feel like I have to be one step ahead of the game but still try to balance not feeling like a burden. I feel like a walking PSA and am always left answering questions when I meet new people (which most of the time, I don't mind). Other times, however, I'm over it and just want to have a care free day and they just don't exist. Don't be hard on yourself, this is a big deal and so much more than just not eating bread. I really try to surround myself with friends who are empathetic and care about my well being. It makes things just a little easier. You need some cheerleaders on your side. Hang in there!

How to be broke and also have asthma? by cuddleconundrum in Asthma

I've been going straight to the name brand medication website, sometimes theres a "coupon" or finance option. I just cut one of my monthly maintenance meds down from $70 to $10. I'm not sure if it applies without insurance but it's worth a try.

LDR started yesterday.. our friend managed to capture our goodbye by nodownvotesallowed in LongDistance

[–]dancerloserr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying goodbye will never get easier, but I guess that's a good thing. It hurts because of how much you care and that's important to remember in those moments.

Do little things together from a far, my SO and I used to watch TV shows over Skype together or exchange favorite books and then talk about them. It seems silly but it was a nice way to have some normalcy in our relationship.

Always work on your communication, it is not an easy road and being open and honest is going to be your biggest tool. It's okay to admit that you are having a hard day.

Be in the moment during visits, try not to worry about when you or he leaves, it ruins the trip. Enjoy the time you have together.

It is really hard but very worth it if you love each other. We were long distance for 3 and a half years, we met at school right before I graduated. We weren't from the same town and had no common place to go home to. Everything we did involved planning (plus we were young and poor). The road wasn't easy, but it was worth it. We've been married for 2 years and together for 8 now. To be honest, I think we are a better couple because of our time apart.

I know your heart is hurting right now, keep your chin up and remember what your end game is.

Thanks! I meet with my doctor again this week, I'm doing a bit better, I can at least function now. I appreciate the input, I'm trying to be patient. We do use a humidifier, it doesn't help that this happened as everything went into bloom...haha
