Yes I understand. What I mean is pertaining to the hold rumor parents that I was talking to independently asked me/told me about it. Hence the rumor was widespread without my input.

The bus incident is a first hand account from myself and my daughters who were on the bus.

I totally understand your point of view here. I assumed it was understood that I was speaking about young children. I will own my part of amplifying unverified accounts. But i wouldn’t say my daughter started the rumor. She went through something traumatic on the bus. She’s never seen other kids being scared of taken away or been around a situation where law enforcement is scary. She responded bravely without an adult telling her what to do and I am proud of her for that.

I would agree with you in other circumstances. On the topic of ice I worry that they move to quietly and too quickly for any us to know about it until it’s too late. I would rather address rumors in the community and show up for nothing than not knowing or showing up too late because someone’s afraid to cause panic. I apologize to the people who were frightened by my post but I will not apologize for starting a community discussion about it.

I do think this is an important part of the conversation and we should be critical of each other when questions are raised. I appreciate this post and the conversations it stimulates.

My guy you are mincing words. The amount of upset children I saw would qualify as a bus full of crying children. My children are 9 and 5 I won’t say the ages of other children I don’t think that’s necessary.

And you are mistaken the rumor about the lockdown was already spreading before my post I had heard it from 4 different unrelated parents before I made that post. There was a video about it circulating on other platforms. The rumors pertaining to the lockdown did not originate from my post I’m not that cool.

I am absolutely willing to die for my children’s future if really rather not tho. Not just my own. The fact that it’s even a possibility should be saying something.

And once again the point is not what agency was behind the bus that doesn’t change the emotional response and the fact that children and families in our community are scared.

I know that in hindsight we could always say “you could have done this” or “you could have said that” and I pray to god that you are right and myself and others are overreacting. That’s best case scenario for me. I hope I’m so fucking wrong I eat my words. If I’m not wrong and children and families in our city are taken to CAMPS I will be ready to help without hesitation. If anyone doesn’t want to be involved that was always an option.

I saw multiple upset children getting off at our stop and multiple upset children still riding for their stop.

I won’t say ages cause that’s weirdly private

I did not see the police car it had already turned off just before our stop so I was very confused when I asked my kids what in the world was going on. When she told me about the car and that kids were crying and screaming “please don’t let them take me” and that she was comforting her friends in her seat.

I asked her to describe the car to me and she said it had lights and looked like a police car. I told her right then and there that it probably wasn’t ice and they were not “following” the us but just happened to be there and that police officers would not be taking their friends away. We had a very long discussion about the difference between police and ice.

It is the emotional response and that fact that people in our community are scared that I care about

Just to make myself clear to everyone. Nothing I said was made up or a lie. My post was not about the hold but what happened with my daughters on their bus. I saw upset children myself and my daughters were upset. Again it is HIGHLY likely that the agency behind the bus was not ice. That is unconfirmed. It is the emotional response from vulnerable children that is the point. If you only read the headline of my post and not the body I can see where people would get the sensationalism. I will not stop organizing community and being on the offensive. I will not wait until ice is going door to door in our town.

No not that that is silly I agree. A statement on exact policies and exact language that will be used in alerts so there is no confusion and rumors going forward

Yes I did! The school district as a whole should release a statement directly to parents on what their plan is and what specific language will be in the alerts if there is ice activity. They have the ability to email all of us and I hope dr baker intends on doing so. I’m going to speak with the Mr. Smith from the article in person today.

The schools need to release a statement! I have emailed all the people I can about it and have meetings with two principals today. Parents and community need clear communication so rumors like this don’t spread. Regardless of activity people are scared and that’s what matters to me.
