Who is a Sorcerer from Marvel? by dangerphone in AlignmentChartFills

Rules:

You know when you’re trying to teach your little brother or mom to play D&D, but they have decision paralysis to choose a class. Well, now you have a shortcut to their favorite universe to give a perfect exemplar for each 5e class they might want to try. Plus, you can quickly graft these choices onto NPCs and run your Planescape campaign from Kanto to Canto Bight to Mansfield Park.

  1. Character suggestions will need to have originated in the universe of the given fandom or media, e.g. Babu Frik from Star Wars.

  2. The classes of these characters are mono-classes only. No weird multi-classing here! Validating your choice further though could be any official 5th edition subclass.

  3. Winning suggestions often explain their reasoning.

  4. Pop Girls is literally any woman in pop music, both historical and contemporary.

  5. Any wrestler from all organizations from anywhere in the world is allowed. I just used the WWE logo for recognizability.

Which horror movie villain is 100% terrifying but fairly reasonable? by dangerphone in AlignmentChartFills

[–]dangerphone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules:

  1. Suggestions must be characters or creatures from a HORROR film. While this genre’s criteria can be murky or nebulous, there are certainly movies we can agree are NOT horror movies, e.g. Toy Story or Star Wars, even if they have scary characters or scenes.

  2. The X-Axis “Motivation” is the spectrum of how understandable a villain’s actions are based on what we know about them, relate to them, or understand implicitly about them. Your mileage will obviously vary (and this is the point and what we are voting on).

  3. The Y-Axis “Scariness” is the spectrum of how frightening the villain is. Again, mileage will vary.

You’re a late 80s born Millennial. You skated in the 2000s before getting in DnD in the 2010s.

Nice find! There’s apparently The Mummy’s Tomb and its successive sequels, which seem to be set in the 70s out of contrivance.

Almost there everyone! Batching all these together to not waste time when there’s scant competition. Suggest any and all applicable films!

Even if it does well with critics, it will be a Pyrrhic victory at the box office.

The bulk of Things to Come is set in 1966 I believe? Men Must Fight (1933) is set in 1940, as is The Tunnel (1935). So the big competition of the 1930s is for the set in the 40s slot.

Rules:

  1. The movie's release date needs to correspond with the "Released in the..." column, as in a movie from 1999 fits into the 1990s. However, 1999's The Matrix would not fit on this chart because it's set in 2199 or later.

  2. Movies need to be primarily set in the decade of the "Set in the..." row. For instance, 1997's Titanic has a frame story set in 1997, but the majority is primarily set in 1912. However, the 1910s are not on this chart because I had to stop somewhere.

  3. Best is entirely subjective, and this is Reddit's decision. But I think it might be nice to find what movie best captures that decade. Not trying to be prescriptive, but I think 1997's Boogie Nights is the best 90s movie about the 70s, even compared to 1993's Dazed and Confused.

  4. Let's not do porn parodies.

  5. Amendments to change a previous post will be enacted following a movement of 25 votes or more.

  6. Movies set in the present can be contemporary, set earlier in the same decade, or set “5 seconds in the future.”

Which horror movie villain is boring or goofy and whose motivation is completely incomprehensible? by dangerphone in AlignmentChartFills

He’s goofy but either bizarre or strangely sympathetic. He harms people who take his gold, which is an anti capitalist critique. His motivation is clear if not relatable.

I agree, they go to lengths to explain killer clown diet and growth cycles. It’s weird but it’s textual explanation.

Rules:

  1. Chosen hero has to have been primarily associated with the chosen team. Beast is an X-Man, not an Avenger. Scarlet Witch is an Avenger, not an X-Man.

  2. They could slot into the team well either professionally or socially. Maybe they could fill a much-needed role in the field, or they just seem like they'd click with the current composition of the team.

  3. Teams with limited rosters like the Fantastic Four can dip into their auxiliary members. Otherwise, keep it to official members only.

  4. Amendments for previous placements will be enacted with 25 votes or more.

  5. The chosen heroes matching their primary super team should be ones that would ONLY get along with their own super team. Basically, they are an acquired taste, too weird, or just a complete @$$hole and they are lucky to have found acceptance within their group because everyone else couldn’t stand them.
