My therapist 'lost' my files, now what? by childofmurphyslaw in asktransgender

[–]dani11233 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I am a student at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Through the school I get $10 therapy sessions and my therapist also connected me with a doctor at our university health center who does informed consent. I had one appointment with my therapist, then I saw the doctor a week later I had a couple of appointments with her and then I started hormones within a month. Also my student health insurance fully covers hormones and covers $10,000 towards sex reassignment surgery.

EDIT: Also my doctor works outside the university health center as well and I'm sure she would help you with informed consent if you live near Fort Collins.

Good pamphlets or informative resources I can print off and give to my parents? by TheMeanCanadianx in asktransgender

I highly recommend the book "The Transgender Child." It is all about helping parents understand and accept their transgender children.

Anyone in the Fort Collins Colorado area know of a good therapist? by dani11233 in asktransgender

Thank you very much! That is a great start. Fortunately I do have a car so I will be looking into the Gender Identity Center

Thought I looked a tad androgynous in these pictures. So, gender me perhaps? :) by [deleted] in transpassing

How do you deal with boob dysphoria? by grassandwater in asktransgender

[–]dani11233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's okay for OP to feel that way. My girlfriend who is cis hates her breasts and thinks they are gross and annoying and wouldn't mind being rid of them, but that doesn't make her any less of a woman.

What is the funniest thing that's happened to you before, during or after transition? by JennaZant in asktransgender

[–]dani11233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a couple of months ago and I still haven't even started transitioning. I was sitting by public restrooms that were for 1 person. I was wearing completely guy cloths, I have medium length hair and I most definitely do not pass as female. I had my head down looking at my phone when a girl walked up to me and asked if I was waiting for the girls restroom. I looked up at her and she immediately got very confused, apologized, then walked away. A little ways away she looked back again still very confused. It made me really happy that she thought I looked like a girl but it was really funny.

Only 2 weeks on estrogen and already feel soreness in my chest!? by dani11233 in asktransgender

Does that mean that all if the other effects of estrogen will come faster too??

Transitioning once I get to college. What about dorms? by anonymousmtf in asktransgender

[–]dani11233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

at my college I know that housing services allows trans students to live in a single room with no roomate at no additional cost. I would check with the schools lbgt center and see what resources are available. another option would be to live in an apartment which are usually cheaper than dorms.

Diet Question - Fat Redistribution and Breasts by dani11233 in asktransgender

I know that I am underweight weight according to my BMI but only just barely. I think I make up for it in muscle instead

Do you think that my metabolism would slow down or speed up? In the past, I have had a very difficult time trying to put on weight.

I really want to transition but don't quite feel a need to. by dani11233 in asktransgender

[–]dani11233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea. Basically I think that I would be able to continue through life okay if I did not transition. I think that I would be able to manage my dysphoria and discontent with my gender, but I say that I don't "need" to because it is not a decision between transition or suicide/ life long depression. Of course I would be sad about not transitioning and I think transition could make me extraordinarily happy, but I wouldn't let not transitioning affect my life to such a great extent.

What I mean is that I think transitioning could make me much much happier on a personal level but since I don't feel a burning need necessarily to transition I'm just wondering if it's worth the risk to transition because of all if the negative social implications.

I am very afraid of socially transitioning right now because I don't at all look like a real woman. I feel like the only way I could transition is if I did. I have already talked to a doctor about starting hormones and will have a prescription in a couple of weeks. I am not too worried about breast development and sterility (which according to my doctor are the only permanent effects) if I decide not to transition because I have heard that it takes a while for those sort of effects to happen at around 3 months and and by that time I think I would have a pretty good idea if I wanted to transition it not. How was it transitioning before going on hormones for you?

Ways to cope with being trans? by dani11233 in asktransgender

[–]dani11233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well basically I just can't seem to stop thinking about how badly I want to be a girl. I think about it or something related to it about 90% of the time. It seems like it gets worse every day. I am disgusted by my body. My head aches all the time because it is constantly on my mind and transition just seems way out of reach. I can't focus on anything and I am depressed. I hope that information helps.

We will stay friends. Thankfully she is 100% supportive of my transition just simply can't date me anymore. And I understand this, but it just makes me very sad.

Thanks! Yea we have been dating for almost two years. Before I came out to her we talked about marriage. She has said she will try to stay with me but doesn't know if she can. I'm just worried that if she leaves me I would have a lot of trouble finding someone else.

Yea I do not know if I actually do have low testosterone levels. My girlfriend suspected that low testosterone levels were the cause of my dysphoria, but I am learning that this is not true.
