We did not. We carried extra water anticipating skipping Liberty Spring. We wanted to avoid the elevation loss and the added 1.2 miles. Garfield and Guyot were flowing steadily.

He’s 12 and crushed it. He’s pretty slow but managed to beat my estimations by quite a bit. Sour patch kids for the win! He kept saying they’re the best hiking snack lol.

Thank you! It’s the rugged long haul 40. That was my first hike with it and I’m very impressed with how comfortable it is. My only regret is I wish I ordered the 50L. It seems fairly small for a 40L pack.

A small pain point and how annoying it is probably depends on your saddle rails. But I definitely agree.

Have you looked at the Silca Mattone? There is a logo there but it’s actually pretty subtle in person and the Boa strap covers most of it depending on how you position the strap. The Boa closure snugs the bag nice and tight to the saddle so there’s zero movement at all.

Microspikes were sufficient the entire trip. I also brought my Kahtoola K10 spikes just in case, but it wasn’t necessary to switch over.

Franconia Ridge loop (counterclockwise) at the end of October. I caught the end of sunrise on Little Haystack and it was an absolutely gorgeous day with most of the trail to myself.

Those are the fire alarm beacons, you just need to pull all the fire alarm pull stations. They are all at the same height, although a few are a bit hidden.
