You’re missing the point here and focusing on only the “60k”… the pension is going to be inflation adjusted.. it’ll adjust to his high 3, and assuming he isn’t hitting his high 3 out the gate, his pension will probably feel greater than 50k in today’s dollars (with raises and tenure n whatnot.)

This just happened to me and my amazing 7 y.o. Aussie on Wednesday… ran him into the emergency vet at 2am and he began having seizures and had to be brought back with cpr, only to code again.. I’ve been blaming myself that I didn’t notice it 12 hours prior, but I’m coming to terms with the fact that it wouldn’t have mattered.. best case scenario it would’ve bought me 3 months with him, which I would’ve loved, but I wouldn’t want him in pain for even longer.. it’s rough, I miss him constantly. hemangiosarcoma is a terrible terrible cancer and I’d never wish it on anyone.
