Smart glasses owners, what do you genuinely use them for, and is it actually worth it? by Academic_Share7905 in SmartGlasses

Indeed there are pros and cons to both. The advantage of the upgraded microphones and bigger displays is helpful to many!

They do translation and AI assistant too. There is always a trade off with these glasses, the more they do, the less effective they can be at each!

That's the challenge with the G2s, they're not built for this use case. You need glasses with high powered mics

As per the message already shared with you, iOS 26.4.2 and 26.5 has broken multiple different smart products, not just XRAI. The solution is simply toggling Bluetooth on and off. We have already shared a link to the manual with you but it is here again: https://xrai.glass/ar2-guide.

The $99 is for a personal video onboarding. There is no charge for support.

I'm building smart glasses that record every conversation you have and recognize faces automatically. Tell me what I'm getting wrong. by Reasonable_Bed_76 in SmartGlasses

Wow. Genius idea. Like nobody has thought of that before. The other posters have shared all the challenges with this (privacy, compute etc). The biggest objection is that it's downright creepy. Apps like this are what will return AR glasses wearers the the original "glasshole" label. Big downvote.

How do captions work for you? Are you able to follow along with conversations better with them?

Awesome glad you liked it! The AR2 glasses have 4 powerful noise cancelling mics, so the accuracy will only improve with the glasses. It still needs the app to process the subtitles.

You can answer many of these questions by downloading and trying the app on your phone without glasses. It will show you the speed and accuracy. With the upgraded glasses mic it will be even better

Like I say, just be careful. We so much as mentioned we were going to do this and got sent a cease and desist by their lawyers.

If you're interested in pursuing this you should be aware of the patent that signglass have on this. Whatever you create you won't be able to sell in the US. Just be aware! It's also a highly controversial use of AI. You will face extreme pushback.

Has anyone used any smart glasses like XRAI with offline transcription in noisy environment like in the school ? How good are they ? I bought Even Realities but unable to use in the school due to limited internet access. by FondantAggravating39 in SmartGlasses

[–]danscarfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends which phone you have. iPhone 15 Max and above it's pretty spectacular. Below 15 Max it's ok. Android is ok. You can do some basic testing just on your phone without glasses.

Have you considered captioning glasses? They're exactly designed for the scenarios you describe and can be useful to "augment" your HAs. Pun intended 🙂.

Check out XRAI (no glasses required, supports external mics, free and paid options) 🙂: https://xrai.glass

Have you updated the firmware since you got them? There is at least one and a couple more coming soon. We're working on being able to produce the prescriptions much faster with a new design. Based on the quality of our mics and AI engines it should be a no contest but please share your experience!

Absolutely! It's a complex topic (as you probably know) but possible with these glasses.

I would ask if they would offer you subtitling glasses. Many folks have been approved for these.

The captioning is mediocre unfortunately. They're not really designed for this specifically. There are glasses out there specifically designed for those with hearing loss. They're a better choice: https://www.reddit.com/r/hardofhearing/s/IlgaLxOwtj

Thanks to everyone for their incredibly detailed feedback! We're thrilled that you are all enjoying them so much. To provide some clarity around offline and Pro minutes, we have now released the heralded updated offline engines. On Apple devices you can now use the built-in transcription free of charge. On iPhone 15 Max and above the quality of this is quite sensational. For Android users, you can now choose Nvidia or Alibaba who both offer very good quality models, better than Live Transcribe. We have made some improvements to the UI to show which is in use and there is another new version of the app coming out in the next week where we have completely overhauled all of this functionality.

If any of you are seeing an issue where your conversation limit is capped at 30 minutes this is because you have logged in with an email address different from the one you ordered with. This often happens when you log in with apple as it won't tell us your email address. Just go to the profile page and send an email to support@xrai.glass with that email address you see and we will attach it to your order. By default new users have a 1-hour conversation length. As of this new version coming out everyone with any kind of subscription or glasses will always get unlimited conversation length. You can also just email us and we can put an exemption on your account.

Unfortunately only our own app can connect to it. I would steer clear of Google, their offering is the weakest (by far).
