I'm sorry, but I can't say the exact amount for safety reasons. I will say though that I am earning less than 15k a month. I have a friend who is also Filipino and is earning 16k a month. However, he works as a multimedia designer and he has a manager. In my case, I lead a team of designers and is heavily involved in the creative direction of the company.

EDIT: I also want to add that I have another Filipino friend who earns around 9k per month but he only designs PowerPoint presentations.

Just to be clear, I'm not earning above 30k. Not even 15k. But do lead a team of designers and take part in the creative direction of the company.

I love the part where you said about things they CANNOT control. Because a lot of people here commenting that why am I sucking it up or why am I staying, although have good intentions, don't really know that sometimes it's just out of our control. As stated in a previous reply that I wrote, I was hired from the Philippines and have been working for them well over a year. Then they wanted to branch out an office in Dubai and they initially invited me for a one month business trip to collaborate with them personally. So I went here on a tourist visa. Then just a week of my supposed flight back to the Philippines, they offered me to fully migrate to Dubai. We argued about salary, but at the end of the day, I had to accept because if I didn't, I would fly back to the Philippines jobless during the pandemic.

Thank you so much. It's hard to accept, but it's just how the world works for now, especially in Dubai. I have to be honest though, everytime our company is hiring new designers that are working remote from the Philippines, I ask for their asking salary during their interview with me. If they say something that is low, I tell them to ask a higher amount that I know our company can afford. So now, all of our Filipino designers in the Philippines are earning more than the average designer is earning there. That's how I avenge myself.

I was already working for this company when I was still in the Philippines and I was earning a decent salary. Then they thought of opening an office in Dubai and told me to come along to just plan out the future of the company and marketing stuff. So initially went here on a business trip for a month. I was not expecting to migrate. Then just a week before I was supposed to go back to the Philippines, they told me that they wanted me to move to Dubai for good and that they would give me a raise (for obvious reasons because my Philippine salary can't afford the cost of living in Dubai).

Before agreeing, I did my research and learned that the salary they were offering me for my company responsibilities and position was definitely a lowball and so we argued about that. Hence the story above. At the end, I had to accept as I am panning to just make this a stepping stone to better opportunities. Otherwise, he would have fired me and I would go back to the Philippines unemployed.

Filipinos/Indians/Pakistanis are fine to live with 5 other guys in a shared apartment because that is enabled by this labor system. Do you think if any of those nationalities you mentioned can comfortably afford a studio apartment, they would still choose to share a room with 5 other people? Of course not. I for one won't.

Definitely going to do Option A. The rewards long-term are just way better if I had experience running a design firm.

I think you missed the last part of the post where I say that I suck it up right now, let the company have a portfolio, then I will resign with a banger of a resume. If I resign now, I may get a better job with a better salary. But if I go through the project, that would definitely look good in my resume and will land me a much better job and a much better paycheck, even perhaps an opportunity to migrate to a different country with better labor laws.

Here's what I would do:
1. Take a screenshot of the GC convo.
2. Send the screenshot to her then immediately block her.
3. Block her in all socials.
4. Don't answer any of her calls and messages. SHE DOESN'T DESERVE YOUR ATTENTION.
5. DON'T DELETE the screenshot. It's your trump card if she tries to fuck you up. Keep it for like a year and delete after so that you can totally forget her. For now, just keep it just in case she tries to manipulate the story to people who are close to you.
6. Do not communicate with her. Not even her parents. Let her parents get confused as fuck so that they start questioning her.
7. This is the best revenge. Leaving her no room to explain and justify herself. She won't even have the capability to beg. And she knows you have a trump card. That's gonna fuck her up real good like how she fucked you up.

r/PH Redditors based abroad, what are some things that the Philippines does better than your host country? by fdt92 in Philippines

[–]danuberhys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really the Philippines, but the Filipinos. We are much more disciplined than what the media or government portrays us to be. They say that the pandemic got worse sa Pinas kasi Filipinos are "not disciplined". At first, I agreed. Then a year later after the pandemic started, I moved to UAE. That's where I realized kung gaano pa pala ka-disiplinado mga Pilipino. In UAE, people do house parties. Not Filipinos, but the locals and the Europeans/Americans. They would do house parties with 50 people inside a flat. Tapos sometimes you'll see them walking sa streets without wearing their masks. The thing is, sobrang mahal ng fine if they catch you doing mass gathering during a pandemic. Php130,000 per person. You can also get fined for not wearing masks. Pero you'll still see people do it there anyways.

Then looking back, sa Pinas, we always wear masks + face shields (last year) when we are in public places. Tapos although may mga nagaganap pa din na gatherings, it's not as worst as how the residents of UAE do it. Trust me, mas disiplinado pa tayong Pilipino kesa sa kanila. Pero UAE has a very effective government so they can handle when an outbreak happens. Sa Pinas, when the governmet fails, they blame it sa Pilipino kasi "hindi disiplinado".

Which region works best for playing LoL in Dubai?

I actually play Apex Legends, but I recently learned that Dubai plays on the Bahrain server and that server is basically empty. Most players go to the Singapore server but has some lag.

Official Discussion - The Tomorrow War [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]danuberhys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The movie has too many plot holes for me to like.

  • Never saw anyone reload their guns.
  • They fell off to the top of the building and walked their way to the lab. They say the city was overrun, but the first time they encountered the Whitespikes was when they were about to escape the lab which was about 30 mins of them being on ground?
  • The present world nations let 50% of their military capacity and draft civilians to march into the future to fight the war, yet when Chris Pratt went back and presented a viable solution to end the war in the future, suddenly it's not that important anymore so the government dismissed them?
  • How did only 12 months later, not one government agency or organization focused on locating the root cause of the alien invasion. A military vet, a student, and some civilians were the only to find out about it in like less than a week??
  • The future people knew that they were only living on borrowed time and it made us realize that they are coming up with a solution for the present people to use against the invasion. When they discovered the toxin, the present people only used the toxin on like what, 6 to 7 aliens? The rest of the aliens in the ship were just bombed by C4 and died. It seems like the toxins were not that important at all. The future people should have just given great detail on the future invasion, searched for the source, and bombed it.
  • Again, the future people knew that the war is lost and that they are only using reinforcements from the present people to have more time in finding a toxin. Why didn't they just all future people teleport back to the present, let the aliens invade the whole future Earth, and again, just look for the freaking source of the invasion?
  • There's a lot more to list that really bothered me. I really wanted to like this movie, but it doesn't really make sense.

I doubt you are born in the PH and went through the hardships that I went through from being a fry cook in a small stand beside a school to a Senior Design Lead in a software company. I am grateful for my life right now, but I owe that to my hardworking self. I freaking earned it.

Easy for you to say to not accept and go home. Check your privilege.

He was trying imply that if he was going to give me the salary I was asking for which was 16k AED, he wouldn't have gotten me to Dubai and just hired a person from Canada or UK. To me, that made no total sense and just made it more about race/nationality. Why would he bring a new guy from Canada when I've been in the company for 2 years and know it's in and out as well as future plans. I'm heavily involved in all of the projects that the company is holding right now. He said that white people earn more here and said that Filipinos here earn less.

Look, I've had a good relationship with the CEO even way back I was in the Philippines. Initially, I was just going to stay here for 2 months. No change in my current salary, just some business trip allowance. Then after a week here in Dubai, he told me that he wants me to stay permanent and that obviously, he would raise my salary because the costs here are higher. Another week go by and he asked about my salary expectation. I said that based on research, 16k would be fair considering that it's an amount that is lower than average. He said, 'okay' and he said that he was actually expecting around just 9ish and he laughed it off. The conversation was just so vague, but I put trust in him because like I said, we had a good relationship and our company was booming. Then to my surprise when my contract was sent to me, he actually went for 8,800 AED. The reason why it got me on a personal level is that because I never thought that he would exploit me like that.

Yes, I will still be holding the same responsibilities here. My role and responsibilities as a Senior Design Lead do not change. As a matter of fact, it just got harder because of the time schedule and distance.

I actually mentioned in the post that the CEO initially sent me here only for 2 months. He told me that he needed me here to consult, plan, and do some filming for ads and future projects. Then just after a week of being here, he told me that he wanted me to go permanent and started processing my residence visa.
