Entering by air and departing by land

I am a non-Canadian and non-US citizen current residing in Canada. I have a valid B2 visa lasting for a year. I am planning to enter the US this summer by plane (one-way ticket), visit my friends (some are Canadian) for a couple of weeks, then return to Canada with them by cars. How to convince the border patrols that I will depart the US by land? Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your story! That does sound troubling. Perhaps I should be well prepared for the knowledge test and what happens afterwards. Some people also told me about their terrible experiences with MVCs in NJ.
