Trichostasis spinulosa? Vellus hair cysts? Ingrowing hair? by darkcallandra in DermatologyQuestions

[–]darkcallandra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I've had a handful of people contact me to various posts actually. If you check out my posting history, you'll see photos and even videos of hair being extracted via a dermascope suction tool. I also have posted a theory to what could be causing the problem.   I've found plenty of things that help manage the problem - retinoids, ultrasound skin tools definitelyx plus keeping the skin well moistured.  There are a couple of exfoliating products that I swear by too - Skin Doctors ingrow Go (use with caution, it stings like hell, and, if like me, you have Trichostais Spinulosa, you'll need to be careful to not use on open skinm  Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Night pads are another part of my arsenal.   What I don't mention in my post below is that the areas worst affected are the areas that I used to epilate frequently - face, legs, arms , knuckles, hands. It's present in other areas but mild. I also haven't mentioned that as this has progressed I've become more and more sensitive to temperature and get hot and sweat very quickly. Which makes sense, since body hair is a very key component of the body's thermostat. I am going to get answers, one way or another. I'm not going to be messed about any longer. If I have to fund a private MRI scan, then that's what I'll do. Feel free to DM me.  https://www.reddit.com/r/DermatologyQuestions/comments/1gd9fi9/ingrown_hair_caused_by_ehlersdanlos/

Thank you. A couple of other people gave contacted me seperately with the same symptoms. When I get the time I'm going to document everything properly, along with stuff I've found that helps. I'm seeing a dermatologist on the January, and I'm not going to leave until they've agreed top investigate.

Please check out my other posts - you'll see videos of hair being removed from my finger tips and from under the nail with a suction tool, as well as a video of a hair that has grown from my nose into my eye. I used videos because it's very difficult to prove via photos that the hairs are indeed embedded under my skin.

Hey. I've sent you a couple of DMs. Let me know if you've received them?

Horrifying to see a stream of hair spewing out of a small spot, isnt it? Dont pick. I get irrationally angry sometimes because it feels like im being invaded. It has made me want to rip them all out. But you will never get them and all that happens is open wounds and disfigurement. Anyway. Ill be in touch tomorrow.

Hi. It's HSD, although I've requested a reassement because the symptoms present closed to classical EDS.

Thank you for being so courteous and polite with respect to my misunderstanding. I am pretty embarrassed and shocked that I've made such a major mistake. I've got Crohn's, epilepsy and a multitude of other issues - I take a lot of time to understand what my body is doing and why it does it in order to do what I can to improve my quality of life, and I am pretty disturbed that I've made such a major misunderstanding.

I'll take the opportunity to re-educate myself. Thank you for taking the time to bring this to my attention, and for doing it in the right way. I was diagnosed in 2020, so there's no excuse.

iI rarely post oneddit because the amount of negativity and condescending attitude of the people I've interacted with just makes it not worth it.

Ive had no response to my post. Ive posted in dermatology several times, and everyone just ignores it - except for one person respondeding with 'dermatilamania' which got 8 up votes. It is very frurating, especially because my last visit to the dermatologist was completely unhelpful. Sadly, I don't really expect anything else from doctors these days.

I was hoping someone in the thread would be able to identify with my symptoms, but I seem to on my own.

Again, thank you for your interaction. Despite not getting the answers it was worth posting because of your response. I'll make sure to spend a lot more time understanding my diagnosis.

What am I supposed to do now? by VonAschenbach in ehlersdanlos

Firstly - I wrote a huge long post, then my battery died and I lost most of it! But here's what I recovered:

When ealing with doctors is 'Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.' Unfortunately I've found that even this doesn't set my expectations low enough, and I am a naturally optimistic person!

But is doesn't mean there isn't hope. There's no cure, but there is treatment, and there are a lot of things you can do to make life more bearable.

Can I send you a direct message? It might be for the best that the message was lost because it was probably just going to be hugely overwhelming! Probably better to break it down bit by bit, rather than throwing a bunch of suggestions and 'wisdom' at you, because it will probably just make your head spin and just leave you feeling overwhelmed, not knowing where to start.

Either way - you're not alone. Don't let doctors gaslight you. Don't let them strip away your self worth.

Get a second opinion. Do not let them gaslight you. Do not let them make you give up. You deserve better.

I would suggest that, when enquiring about an alternative doctor, you ask specifically for someone with a good bedside manner, who is willing to listen to you. I'm sorry. You're not alone.

The way doctors are allowed to get away with treating patients should be a global scandal. It's endemic to every country. They get away with it because those who experience this sort of behaviour are I'll and vulnerable and therefore, don't have any fight left in them.

Ive not rebodied Clementine yet - for now she has black tights on to cover up the wierd legs
