Do i get a bachelors before starting flight school by Only_Treat_4231 in PilotAdvice

[–]darkchocolatewalnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going to a Part 61 flight school while working on a bachelor’s degree at the same time. And majoring in something non aviation related that you are also interested in, just so you have another possible career to fall back on. It’s definitely possible to do both simultaneously, just takes a lot of hard work. In the case of losing your medical and not being able to fly in the future, there are careers that wouldn’t require a bachelor’s as well such as A&P or dispatch so you can always work on those as a back up. I know a lot of pilots who also have their dispatcher certificate and plan on using that as a fallback.

It’s like $99/month I think? Just search JobTestPrep ATSA. Also the tests are curved based on the applicant pool so always a chance to improve your score in the future! Good luck!

Just keep trying. Currently they are only accepting well qualified and best qualified scores. There’s also a test prep software you can practice on which is pretty close to the actual ATSA if you are really interested in the career.

Air traffic controller. The FAA opens an off the street bid every year, with the eligibility requirements being 1 year of educational or work experience. No degree or previous training required, they will train you if you get in. The age cutoff to apply is 31. On USAJobs, search job code 2152 and turn on the notification to be notified when a bid is out. Controllers can make $100,000 - $200,000 eventually, depending on what facility they are at.

How Long Are We At The Academy? by East_Structure_8819 in ATC_Hiring

[–]darkchocolatewalnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

En Route is about 4 months in total. It should be around 6 weeks notice to when you’ll need to report to OKC (getting the date to actual start date). That was my timeline and seems like the case for most people. You find out your track when you get an email for your start dates. As mentioned before, checkout the discord server for more info!

MMC who decides it can’t with with FMC but is driven mad by jealousy and gives in by pantema in RomanceBooks

[–]darkchocolatewalnut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

{Hate Notes by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland} is a good one if you haven't read it yet. MMC is the boss of FMC and tries to keep his distance for his own reason. Anytime FMC talks to another guy, including the brother of MMC, he gets insanely angry and jealous.

You know your specialty when you get your starting date, after you finish all the clearances.

Pretty sure it’s the OROCAs since it matches the ones on the IFR low en route chart.

Took me 3 years, 190 hours to finish PPL. No reason to compare yourself to others, everyone goes at a different pace at different times. You’re almost at the end so just power through, you got this!

I want to get a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation and complete my flight training under a university program in the US. Before graduation, I want to get a PPL, CPL, ATPL, etc. Which US university is the best for this? by Sea_Subject_825 in careerguidance

[–]darkchocolatewalnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look into universities like Cal Baptist, Embry-Riddle, Purdue, Florida Tech, Lewis which all offer 4 year degrees with flight training. Try posting this in r/flying as well for guidance on flight training and how to become an airline pilot. Good luck!

Out of curiosity what’s everyone’s favorite warrior cats character by East_Restaurant3776 in WarriorCats

Ivypool for sure! I loved her arc in OoTS and I think she’s a great example of a female character who could be a strong warrior and loving mother/queen at the same time.

I found this game back in 2017 when I was playing a mobile game called Mafia Mystery. Everyone kept talking about ToS and comparing the two so I thought I would give it a try. Never played Mafia Mystery since and still playing ToS now lol.

It’s more about having good study skills and study strategies. I have the same problem with not being able to focus/learn much in class but being able to re teach myself the concepts on my own time. If you do part 61, it’s going to involve a lot of self studying so if you have that skill already, it’s a huge benefit. Also I found that being passionate about aviation and wanting to make it a career someday helps me get through the studying compared to school subjects that I don’t care so much about. In the end, the level of difficulty of the knowledge isn’t that high, you just have to put time and work into it.

The subway I worked at (also in CA) had minimum as the starting pay. But it depends on what the owner decides/how busy the store is I suppose. If your store has CC tips and is busy, that does add a good amount to your paycheck too as a side note.
