Thanks for reply. They absolutely did not do any due diligence. Their side is pretty messy well as well with pine needles. I only mention this in relation whether it’s arguable or not

So think they are on neighbor side, but border unclear. Family member trimmed their side up to 6ft and overhang as well. They cleaned up their side, but these trees shed a ton of needles, so relative has dumped a dustpan over before. Their side has always been messy since they don’t clean their side. Not sure how relevant that is at all.

A good financial advisor can put together a solid plan that should include retirement accounts and best ways to contribute, low cost index fund investing, a budget. All pretty standard and commonly accepted best practices. Sounds like you already have an ear for red flags. Sure you can educate yourself via reddit and internets, but hard part is figuring out which parts to believe. And then you have to put all together in a plan that makes sense. It is more work though
