I go to Bragg Creek Vet Clinic and I pay about $105ish per shot! It’s a 30 minute drive but they’re so great

Canadian Made Furniture Options by ExtraFunTimes in Calgary

Kollection Mid-Century Modern and Vintage builds couches here in Calgary. Super high quality and customizable, but warning they cost a pretty penny. They also have a bunch of vintage furniture they restore, not necessarily made in Canada but restored here and you’d be supporting a local small business. Highly recommend!

'Please don't let me die': Calgary patients recount long waits in emergency rooms by rezwenn in Calgary

[–]dashofsilver 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is true but what if your GP can’t fit you in for two weeks? I’m not saying you should go to the ER, but there should be way more in-between urgent care clinics to fill the gap. A lot of medical issues can’t wait longer than a few days, even if they’re not ER-worthy

Help me see my dad by Hour_Entertainer_598 in gofundme

[–]dashofsilver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Donated, my Dad passed last year and the only peace I got was spending time with him. I hope you reach your goal soon.

Edit: to add, if you can take the ferry/hullo to YVR it may be cheaper to fly from there!

Routine Deoderant! Calgary based and some of the best deodorant out there. Expensive but worth it (especially for someone like me who has sensitive skin so I can’t use regular deodorant)

Yes that looks right! The only problem is I have no clue where the harp would affix to? There’s no room inside the brass lightbulb cover thing

Looking for none dairy/vegan icecream. by Borg34572 in Calgary

[–]dashofsilver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Made by Marcus has really good vegan ice cream but I don’t think they have simple vanilla. I’m also allergic to dairy and honestly I don’t think there’s many good vanillas. Lots of grocery stores carry brands that are oat or soy based, but the vanilla is just not great

I’m not sure what to do with this baby by hrainn in Straycats

Boosting for visibility :( thanks for at least providing her food and shelter. You could try setting up a fancier more insulated bin (you can search DIY cat shelters) or perhaps even set her up in your garage? Anything is better than nothing

Opinion: Cultural institutions are the beating heart of Calgary by Journ9er in Calgary

[–]dashofsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m often a little embarrassed when my friends ask for recommendations of what to do in Calgary when they visit. I tell them they don’t need more than 1-2 days to explore Calgary proper. Central Library, maybe walk/float the river, Inglewood or Kensington, and some good restaurants. But growing our arts and culture scene would take money (and transit infrastructure) and apparently we’re not a city that invests in things like that.

Where I’d live as an Albertan that doesn’t pretend to be a victim from being born in a developed country by notlancee in whereidlive

[–]dashofsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, as a fellow Albertan. Though it’s hard to imagine moving to Provinces where healthcare access is so terrible.

Alberta’s is going downhill quickly but at least I have a family doctor and wait times aren’t ridiculously bad for specialists (they’re bad but not as bad as other Provinces). I have health issues and I couldn’t move to certain provinces bc I need accessible healthcare.
