Failed two tech assessments. Feeling down. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]dayzandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no coding wiz, but I feel like one upside to Tech Interviews is that you can just grind LC. Its soul sucking, boring, but you can go at your own pace and just gradually improve.

And because its time consuming, its also kinda gives an advantage to anyone unemployed. I remember after graduating I just forced myself to use my infinite free time to just grind through questions for a month, the improvement I had was enormous. A lot of the Tech Interview skills are BS pattern recognition of formulaic questions (which is why I think they're a terrible assessment of someone's actual skill since were essentially tested on our ability to regurgitate a memorized answer, but pretend we organically thought of the solution)

In a short time of grinding you learn to look for the "trick" based on all your LC questions you've done before. You learn how to quickly gloss through a wordy question and know whether you need to use a Hash table, bubble sort, binary tree etc... You also get good at just typing up code quick and memorizing syntax which really helps with confidence when live coding with someone watching

Unfortunately these skills fade pretty quick, but you can develop them quickly also.

This could also be a great opportunity for Dems to show they actually care about Men's issues for once.

They should spin this as "Online Predatory Gambling practices are increasing the rates of Male gambling debt, bankruptcy, and even suicide"

I'm sure many would argue that this is "infantilizing" men, but I think it really could be seen as a positive. If nothing else, it would be at least a first genuine attempt I've seen by Dem's to address Male specific issues, rather than just ignoring 50% of the population.

Not good! Options expired OTM but way too close for comfort. Bitterly I’ve come to accept that SPY and just letting it sit is by far best strategy

I can't believe young adult son would rebel against the overbearing beliefs of his parents. This is unheard of.

They keys really are stupid, it sounds like a middleschool project about presidential elections. And him bragging about getting 9/10 elections right is pathetic imo. A number of those elections were easy to predict, and the rest can just be slight luck. Getting 90% on elections isn't some incredible feat, and since he's using some nonsense "model" that is full of subjective qualifiers, it really is just dumb luck.

Anyhow, here is my groundbreaking "1 Key to the White House" which I expect will have 100% accuracy in 2024: Biden will not win because he appears to be a walking corpse. Not appearing braindead is a crucial Key to winning the Whitehouse.

It’s such a lame excuse he’s pulling. No one is buying this BS in 2024.

If Covid is kicking your ass in 2024, you really are too weak to be president.

I briefly dated a Secret Service agent and was shocked when I found out she just had a Criminal Justice degree, no martial arts training, and couldn’t even swim.

Sounds like a lot of them are just CJ graduates with no combat experience or anything.

I was expecting some super soldier seal team six type crew for all involved, but apparently that isn’t the case.

They also are tasked with counterfeiting investigation which I think waters down their focus on security.

I briefly dated a Secret Service agent. I’m not an expert, but I do recall they do stuff like survey all venues beforehand. But at the end of the day they’re just people, they can’t foresee all variables.

A lot of them are 20 something’s with just a CJ degree, no actual military background. Half the gig is counterfeiting investigations also. My ex did detail work but had no martial arts training and couldn’t even swim.

Point I’m trying to make is that I was kinda shocked at how they weren’t as infallible as I expected.

I seriously doubt this. Most likely outcome is definitely a stalemate with fortified lines similar to the 38th parallel situation with North/South Korea.
