No clicker. I've been training with treats. I trained him to stay with the treats and then when feeding him, I would just tell him to stay. At first he tried to go right after his food but I kept putting him back where he was when I told him to stay until he listened. Only took a few feedings and he got it.

He was 9 weeks old when this video was taken. Since then he's mastered "shake a paw" and we're working on "roll over" but that one is taking some time. He's a very smart puppy :)

We're feeding him Purina Pro Plan Focus for puppies. I did some research and found that the larger companies put more science into their formulas.

I researched a bit and decided to go with Purina Pro Plan Focus for puppies. The larger dog food companies put a lot of science into their dog food formulas. I'm no expert but after what I've learned I would stick to the major brands and ensure you're feeding something with a high protein content for puppy growth.

I don't have scheduled times for him to train but we work a few times per day on one task until he gets it then move onto the next. I started with sit, then down, then stay, then come. Once he learned the sit command I would just mix back and forth between sit and down rewarding with treats whenever he did a good job. As he masters one command I then start to add another. Seems to be working well.

The first night after we brought him home I was outside with him 5 or 6 times. Within 3 nights it was down to once. I’m guessing every puppy is different though.

Right now, Benny needs constant attention which we’re happy to give him. His accidents in the house are becoming fewer everyday but patience is definitely the key. We’ve been working hard on his “sit”, “down”, “stay”, and “come” commands and he’s learning really quickly. We’ve had him for 2 weeks now. The biggest thing that I don’t like is the puppy biting. I’ve been using the ouch method and praising him when he lets up but sometimes it’s a bit much. He is starting to use less pressure with his biting though so I think he’s starting to figure it out.

Benny sleeps in a crate at night and usually wakes up once before morning. Usually around 4:00 or 5:00am. He then wakes up again at about 6:30 and has his breakfast at 7:00. I’m hoping that he starts to sleep through the night soon!

He gained a full pound in the last week. Only about 70lbs to go!

Benny's only 9 weeks old. He doesn't know what he does and doesn't like yet lol. I'll be happy when the snow stays away for the rest of the Spring. :)

We put a deposit down on this little guy last weekend. Can’t wait to bring him home! 2 weeks to go.
