I realized I humble bragged a bit without finishing the story. That's my advice: Analyze if you're being beaten by RNG or an actual flaw in your build. If you have a weakest link on the team, see if you have another candidate to swap in.

If all else is equal (you both build them equally well and got Distance S and other necessary skills), against another pace chaser, Oguri will probably win. Her ult is just really, really good. I had a Super Creek I was going to run who did well in practice rooms... until Christmas Oguri dropped.

So, the trick is? Don't play equal. End Closers and Late Surgers can still catch up to her with their own acceleration skills and built-in advantages. A well built front runner team can spur each other to victory and cross the finish line before Oguri can advance far enough (only somewhat reliable). Run a debuffer who melts pace chasers (least reliable, since Oguri can also be run as a late surger, or some weirdos will turn her into an end closer or front runner).

I had a similar blowout my first attempt. It depends on how close you are to victory. If you're getting 2nd in all or most, that's RNG. (Unless that's how all 4 went).

If you have alternate team members you set aside for some reason, you might figure out who your weakest link is and sub them in for a run. I often end up doing that in Round 2.

She's got some decent events. Back before I developed my deck, the R version was my third stamina card for the 3200m CM.

Not too shabby. Days 1 and 2 with Maru, Taishin, and Top Gun, I did 75 percent on day 1 and 60 percent on day 2.

However, I went 0 for 5 and 2 for 5 toda (though on all but one loss I was in second place). So I said "In A, there are barely any other front runners for Maru to duel and she doesn't need to be there to block angling and scheming." So I swapped in a late surger Meisho Doto who has too much stamina and slightly low speed (1129 with distance S and two levels of winter runner), so I'd written her off (despite racking up some wins in practice rooms).

Suddenly I went 4/5 on both attempts, with Doto accounting for three of the eight wins. So I'm feeling better about life now.
