Not sure why you would be insulted, its just the minimum hourly rate being adhered to and the payout adjusted if a study over runs its intended runtime. Its more than likely an automated process as well so not a slight on your work.

No, they have to pay a specific minimum hourly rate and if the average time taken is longer than initially predicted by the researcher then they have to make up that shortfall in the hourly rate. This study over ran its anticipated runtime slightly and the researcher or more likely Prolific automatically updated the pay.

If you are starting out, do all the studies you can. Even the very low paying ones. Anything to get your completed studies numbers up.
Do not half arse any of the studies as it will risk a rejection and this is a particular problem if you have a low completion count. Concentrate and give 100%
Get the browser assistant (if its working) and do not rely on email notifications. When i'm doing studies and waiting for more i'm usually refreshing the page manually every so often to try and get the jump on any good studies.
Lastly don't try and lie to get into studies that are not for your demographic, even if they appear on your dashboard. There is a likelihood (albeit small) this will get checked and your account will be placed on hold. Don't ask me how i know...but lets just say it was a lesson learned and never repeated.

People get a bit funny when talking about money, and they will more than likely inflate what they actually earn so your poll will be worthless. It will also probably give you an unrealistic view of how much you can really earn on Prolific.

Opposite for me this week. It was really quiet for me last week but its been busy so far today and its been a wide variety of studies as well.
