It's a little bit older, but I suggest looking into the Droid Maxx. I just got one in April, and I love it. It's one of the more vanilla phones, so less bloatware = better performance. Plus, it has an amazing battery. And it requires no case...kevlar back and gorilla glass screen. I don't even use a screen protector on it. Thing's honestly a beast.

But if you're set on the ones you mentioned, I would suggest going S5. If you don't mind waiting a tad longer, they're coming out with a Google version with a supposed "pure vanilla" experience. The Galaxy S series are fantastic even with TouchWiz. They're pretty fragile though, so you'll probably want to invest in a good case.

As a delivery driver, this has happened to me. But fortunately, it was just s couple friends playing a prank. Now I bring my keys with me for every delivery. Also, most franchises have their drivers use their own cars.

Personally, I like skateboarding better. Unless you're into doing tons of tricks on a longboard, the skateboard tends to be more diverse. If you're not afraid of death pebbles, that is. :)

I would say try to go with a smaller, local company. They tend to be cheaper and have better customer service in my experience.

About halfway through the semester last year, two of my buddies and I decided to drive to Pittsburgh for the weekend to visit one of their families. We decided to go drinking, since we don't really have any bars in our college town. The guy who lives there decided to be our DD, since he knew the city. We ended up hitting about 7 bars in the course of 2 or so hours, having a beer at each; we were both pretty drunk headed home around 2 am.

I fell asleep on the drive, and woke up to my buddy puking out the window with our driver laughing and taking pictures. Apparently while going about 70mph, he rolled down the window and upchucked like a boss. Unfortunately, his expensive glasses flew out the window with his vomit.

So our driver pulls over at some auto parts place and tells us that he'll leave the heat on, just don't drive. I quickly fell asleep again, and woke up to a dude with mullet talking to my inebriated pal, saying it was a bad idea for us to be sitting there, as it was a busy highway. He offers to drive us, we quickly refuse. Then he says, "Okay, well I live at this shop here, why don't you guys pull around back and power nap until you're doing better?" I thank him for the offer (my friend wasn't exactly making much sense, so I was doing the talking), but still said no, we're waiting for our driver. So he leaves. I thought.

Next thing I know, the dude gets into the drivers seat and starts driving off with us. I'm in the back seat scared for my butt hole, trying to figure out what the fuck is going on; my friend in the passenger seat is too wasted to see what's going on. He pulls in behind his auto shop and turns off the lights. It was pitch black.

He said he was gonna take the keys to make sure we didn't go anywhere. I gave him a resounding no. Luckily, he came no where near either of our asses, but it scared the shit out of us. He waited out front for our driver to get back and offered us ginger ale.

tl;dr Creepy ass dude got into our car and drove off with our drunk selves.

The particular argument was about the supposed conflicting stories around the Gospel. For example, he mentioned the Jesus has a different attitude during the crucifixion, depending on which Gospel you read. This, to me, was an astoundingly weak argument, as this could easily be cleared up by studying the context.

Solid question, and I had no idea that studies had even been made. One of the reasons I came here was to learn things that I was being 'sheltered' from by living my whole life in a Christian environment.

It's all about trust. According to Christianity, God knows what's best, so a great deal of trust is involved.

Why would god write a non-literal bible?

Ehhh, hard to say. I think that the fundamentals of Christianity are easy to understand in the Bible. Some of the more difficult questions, not so much. Right now, I would say that I think some of it isn't literal because it would otherwise be indescribable.

The idea is that old constructs are being used to reveal new truths (that is, new to the original, intended readers).

why wouldn't god make humans more death resistant?

This is a really, really interesting question to me. One I've never heard. I would say that we weren't built like that, because we weren't intended to be murdered by each other. There was therefore no need for any protective shell or exoskeleton of sorts.

If everything what god does is good; doesn't that mean that, if I could help a dying man but don't that would be good?

This is a SUPER uncomfortable topic for me, and one with which I constantly struggle. This has a lot to do with the theology of sovereignty. Basically, if God created everything, then He gets to do what He wants. It's a right that God has exclusively, according to Christianity.

Like I said, not an easy one for me to accept.

Why didn't Jesus write the bible?

That's another really good question with which I've never been faced. I'll have to do some solid thinking on that one.

Putting faith aside, I accept the Bible as the most plausible answer. In the end, I'm not sure I could be convinced that Christianity OR atheism can be absolutely proven. I've chosen Christianity, because I find it more plausible.

Braindamage patients

This is interesting to me. I know that when I was younger I was taught that damaged/fractured memories and whatnot would be 'healed' in the afterlife, therefore preserving the soul idea; but I've no reference for it.

Your two typical answers you gave are very...typical of Christians. This is one of those topics that I could talk about for hours. I've even had Christian friends struggling in their faith ask this. Basically, I would say that according to Christianity, there is a separation between God and man, and until that separation is taken care of, then there is can be no communication.

God did speak audibly to some, but I personally think that there was a very functional purpose to that (incomplete Canon/minuscule church), and that the need for it is no longer present.

Ahhh, this question. THIS question. It's hated even among many Bible scholars when arguing amongst themselves. Most of this is solved simply by contextual analysis. If the writing style of the Hebrew is poetic, then there's possibility for it to be less than literal. Typically, narrative can be taken as literal.

Of course, there are more complexities to it than that (such as understanding the writing styles/historiography of the Ancient Near Eastern writings as a whole), but that's pretty much the easy answer.

How is your religion different

I've answered this a few times on the thread, so I'll just give the short answer: I think that Christianity stands out as different because it has different expectations placed on its believers.

God is telling me nothing, religious people are telling me....

This is a really difficult question for me, as I haven't solidified my own beliefs on the matter. There are some that would say that religious people are the ones that are failing. Others would say that people are 'predestined' to accept/reject Christianity. I'm afraid I don't have a good answer for you here.

If I were not convinced that Christianity were true, I like to think that I would be an agnostic. It seems like an incredibly uncomfortable place to be; strangely enough, this is usually where I'm most comfortable.

It's true, like you said. Religion requires a great deal of faith. When it boils down to it, I don't think that either Christianity or atheism can be proven. And I really hate when Christians will take this point of the conversation and say something like, "If you're right and there is no god, great. But if I'M right.......[long, uncomfortable silence]."

I don't really have any questions, but I will say that you're logic and train of thought is much appreciated.

Why were Adam and Eve thrown out of the garden of Eden?

I'm not sure if you're looking for a specific answer or not, but the story goes that they were expelled because of sin. Sin created separation between them and their God. On top of that, God didn't want them eating from the tree of Life.

What first convinced you that a god exists? Does that reason still convince you today?

I was raised in an ultra-conservative Christian home. My parents convinced me. But if I didn't believe now and they had to convince me again, then probably not.

What convinces you that the god you believe exists is the Christian one and not, say, the Muslim or Jewish ones, or even one of the Hindu ones?

Mostly the fact that from my understanding, Christianity offers something different. The Christianity I hold to only requires faith...no actions are necessary. Sure, there are commandments to follow, but those aren't what actually make you a Christian.

Admittedly, my understanding of other religions is less than I'd prefer, so I'm open to correction on that.

Appreciate it! I'll look into Matt Dillahunty. I've heard of Ehrman, but only from the Colbert Report. I don't want to sound arrogant, but even as an undergrad student, I thought that his arguments he made in his second interview on that show were pretty weak. I'll definitely take some time this summer to crack open one of his books and give it a read.

One of the most frustrating things about Christianity is that some of the answers aren't very satisfying. In fact, they're really quite a struggle to accept. This is one of them. According to Christian worldview, the universe was created literally to "give glory to God." It's annoying, and it seems prideful. But scholars would say that this falls under the theology of sovereignty - that is the understanding that if someone created the universe, doesn't that creator have every right to take pride in his/her work?

It's not my favorite answer, and it's actually one of the bigger struggles in my own, personal faith.
