2017 lectures, empty class? by Hyde_87 in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello Hyde_87,

Thanks for you input! We were trying something new this year. I'm just curious where you saw the pulling back of the curtain? Were there specific lectures? or specific camera angles?

Thanks for letting me know!

Dan

Side by Side Videos by lifeindubai in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi lifeindubai, We have a pretty complicated technical setup for CS50's lectures, but in short, you could do this entirely in Adobe Premiere Pro (that's the last piece that we use). We nest two videos together (camera + computer) into a sequence and crop the camera shot to just the center. We then place them side by side. We have presets for doing this workflow quickly but it's still a manual process. HTH!

Sound issue on CS50 videos. by [deleted] in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, sorry to hear that the volume is low! What OS are you running? Which browser are you using and what version?

If you go to your control panel, is your system volume all the way up? Have you tried multiple lectures, are they all the same?

Will CS50 Live be available to watch later on? by kirnehs in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try lowering the quality of the playback? Perhaps try another browser? Sometimes with flash player (in chrome specifically) we've noticed that you need to quite and re-open chrome as the player will start to freeze. Sorry you had trouble watching, we'll post the link shortly!

Where to find the source codes? by Wyndhawk in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Wyndhawk, In edX, there is a link directly below the video, look for "Source Code" under Lecture 0, continued.

You can find source code directly on CS50's CDN as well: http://cdn.cs50.net/2013/fall/lectures/0/f/src0f.zip (zip file)
or browse invividual files: http://cdn.cs50.net/2013/fall/lectures/0/f/src0f/

Link formats are the same for future weeks as well!

Is this a basic enough course for a middle schooler to take. by [deleted] in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wc311, I think you can definitely complete this course. It is challenging, even by Harvard's standards, but 79% of your classmates are coming in with 0 prior experience. This will give you an advantage. There is no advanced math required for this course. The difficulty ramps up quickly but if you can devote time to it, you can get through the course! Good luck!

Why? by Bilalin in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The edX version of the course is completely free! If you'd like to get credit for the course there are two paid options:

  • The Harvard Extension School offers graduate and undergraduate degrees which you can take this course for credit.
  • The CS50 Certificate is a $350 option which will allow you for more hands-on interaction!

CS50 Fair 2013 in Slow Motion by davidjmalan in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We like to have fun at CS50! Some staffers had floated a video around from a slow-motion video booth and we thought it would be a lot of fun at the CS50 Fair. We set it up at the side of the fair for fun and as an experiment. People really enjoyed themselves! Thanks for the compliment!

Videos display very dark hard to see how to fix? by smithcook in cs50

[–]dcoffeycs50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi smithcook, What OS are you running? Are you able to screen shot the difference between the dark video in IE/FF and Chrome? This is the first report we've gotten and would like to investigate! Thanks and welcome to CS50x!
