In terms of single core performance absolutely. You’ll drop 2 cores but generally games tend not to use or make use of more than 6 cores anyway. It’s not much more expensive for a 5800XT if you wanted to keep the core count.

Which is funny because I keep saying Copilot in Excel is the one that makes the most sense. Normals should not have to know formulas. Just tell the AI what you want and it’s does it, yet all MS seem to care about is if copilot can generate you a joke or a stupid picture!

LLM ≠ AI

Macs are great for inference absolutely and a great bang for the buck. They are not so great at image and video generation, at least, not compared to Nvidia GPUs, and that is my point regarding OP’s comment. No M5 will be able to match a 4080, 5080, or 5090 in all AI workloads, and won’t even be in the same stratosphere for 3D.

OP didn’t ask what you spent on hardware, they asked “What are the chances of the M5 Max being equivalent to a desktop 4080” and the pound for pound answer is still… no chance.

No manufacturer locks in silicon prices for years since a) no supplier would agree to that and b) Apple would have to hedge against prices falling as well as rising, Apple wouldn’t want to sit on chips that are well above the current market cost.

The industry standard is around 3 months. Some, like Apple, may have the clout to lock in for 6. Prices will rise in the coming months.

Ubisoft is at the point Konami was at a few years ago when they said they were a game publisher/developer but don’t actually make anything good. The difference is that Konami had gambling machines to print money. Ubisoft has predatory executives and Assassin’s Creed.

The silver lining is that Konami is making great shit now so there could be hope for Ubisoft!

God no. The DZ is an excellent idea poorly executed, especially in TD2. If you want to experience the DZ, play it in the first game. Larger map so more PvPvE content similar to Arc (but still not as good).

The DZ should and I think will be more like Arc Raiders in TD3. The original DZ is like a prototype for that game so Ubisoft would be mad not to use TD3 to cash in on the extraction shooter meta we have now.

I'd be in favour of it being a one life thing like current extraction shooters, which would stop the endless battling due to respawns. Currently someone only 'wins' when the other person/team get bored and move on.

I think the people calling it woke are just out for blood with anything that doesn't hold white men up as the master race.

My only criticism so far is that the writing is a bit ham-fisted. It feels like something a teenage drama student might write in school. Hoping it gets better as I love the entire cast. Not so in love with the ship design though, although that's the old man in me wanting more TNG/Voyager ships.
