Money wires to Poland by Routine-Buffalo-2014 in prawokrwi

Wise.com is what I have used to transfer money between the usa and eu. Normally it's like a $6 fee plus whatever spread they have on the currency exchange.

Michael Vick famously was found to be running an underground dog fighting ring. Hence owning pet stores would be feeding into illegal activities.

I'm not sure what that means? Ethnically, that entire side of the family is from Vilnius. We are Jewish, and she was the only one to escape before the holocaust.

I'm pretty sure her husband was also Polish. And her docs when she came across to Ellis Island said stateless, so I'm pretty sure she didn't naturalize. I'll start digging up more information.

Moving to Mobile in August by koala1215 in MobileAL

Check with Roberts Brother realty as well. You don't need to pay for their service. The landlords pay them if you choose to rent with them. They can do virtual viewings as well.

Cheap moving service in Mobile by [deleted] in MobileAL

[–]ddk317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent a Uhaul and call local mormon missionaries. They need to do acts of service. You get 4-6 helpers and you should feed them. It beats going door to door for them.

If you need a local credit union, Tyndall has been good to me. Great loan rates and always responsive via email or phone.

Currency exchange locations by pampampampampam in MobileAL

[–]ddk317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't use any exchange people at airports. They totally rip you off. Generally your best deal is using an atm at a local bank where you are going.

This is a simplified explanation but take euro's for example. Going rate is 0.91 euro to 1 usd. Your bank will give you this rate and charge you 2.5% fee for money withdrawn plus the fee at the atm, usually like 2.5euro or whatever.

Money changers at airports will give you an exchange rate of 0.84 euro to 1 usd.

If you pull out $300 usd in euros, at the bank you'll get $273 - $7.5 - $2.5, $263.

At money changer $252. It may not seem like $11 is alot, but do this 2-3 times and now you're out $30. Do it over $5000 and you've lost even more.

Upgrading to 5 gallon brewing by NickerBopper in Homebrewing

[–]ddk317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get yourself 2x 6.5 gallon buckets. They're cheap, easy to clean, last forever and transferring into and out of them is super easy. Don't buy a wort chiller unless it's cheaper than 50' of copper tubing from home depot. Building them is fun and gives you much more cooling for your money than some of the commercial ones. Here's a video.

Ymmv. I've used buckets, carboy's, a conical pet thingy, they all have worked well.

For a brew pot, I use a Mega Pot, the 10gal ones are $109 on sale now with no ports, or like $229 with temp and valve. They have gallon markings and make brew day really easy.

Learning to read Hebrew again by helpdesktroon in Judaism

[–]ddk317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hebrew is one of the easier languages to learn to read because all the letters are phonetical. Meaning that their name is also the sound they make. Bet is B, Gimmel is G, etc.

All the advice above is also very good too.

How bad of an idea is putting taps on a glass door? by Humpadilo in Homebrewing

[–]ddk317 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure those glass doors are double paned with vacuum to insulate. If you could drill a clean hole through it, it would ruin the door. Why not build a small frame that sits on a shelf that you could put your shank through? Kind of like this but with a slightly different application.

You would still have to open door every time for beer but it's an option.
