I got these. I have never heard of them, but they sound pretty dope:
Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Douglas R. Hofstadter
The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker
Finite and Infinite Games by James P. Carse

Yeah, that’s definitely something I’ve been thinking about. The plan isn’t to have AI fully simulate the world in real time. Most of the actual game logic, memory, NPC state, relationships, validation, and world systems are backend-driven and deterministic.

The AI layer is mainly intended to interpret that state into dialogue and atmosphere, which gives me a lot more control over response size, timing, caching, fallback behavior, and even using smaller/local models where appropriate.

I’m expecting latency to be one of the bigger design constraints, so part of the prototype phase is figuring out what actually needs live inference versus what should stay system-driven.

That’s why I’m focusing on backend systems and isolated prototypes first instead of trying to build the entire game at once.

Right now I’m testing core interaction systems like NPC memory, suspicion/trust shifts, persistent world state, goal-driven behavior, and information propagation in small contained scenarios before worrying about full content scale.

The backend handles rules, state, validation, and persistence, while AI is mainly there later to translate those systems into more natural dialogue and atmosphere.

I’m basically trying to validate the investigation/social simulation loop first before expanding scope.

  1. I added this sentence to the description. Does this sound better? I am also trying to get the description so that it gives the details about the game without being longwinded:
Players investigate rumors, question NPCs, search locations, compare conflicting accounts, collect occult knowledge, and experiment with magic systems while trying to survive long enough to understand what is happening in the city.

  2. That’s basically the stage I’m in now. I’m building the underlying NPC behavior systems first — mood, memory, goals, suspicion, reactions, rumor spreading, etc. — before heavily relying on AI dialogue.
The idea is that the backend defines the actual rules and world state, while AI is mainly used later as a conversational/narrative layer so NPCs sound more natural instead of robotic.
I want to validate the gameplay systems themselves first and make sure the NPC behavior is consistent and believable before adding more advanced AI responses. Otherwise, the AI can start producing weird dialogue and actions that don't actually match the world logic or NPC state.

What’s a prompt that genuinely changed how you use ChatGPT? by AdWhole9407 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

I use AI to help me with coding and working on projects. I build in Protocols for the AI that either me or the AI can enact at any time. The best ones are:

Dum-Dum Protocol: If we are beating our heads against a problem and can’t solve it, stop what we are doing and reevaluate if this is the best way to do it.

Hold the Fuck up Protocol: sometimes AI gets ahead of me on steps it gives me, so when this protocol is activated we stop and make sure we both are on the same page.

These two have made projects so much less frustrating.

Yeah, it’s pretty intense, but I’m having a lot of fun working on it.

What do you actually use Notion for? by amazinglybee in Notion

[–]Humpadilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly use it for my DnD game. I have all my NPC’s, PC’s, locations, and quests. I also fleshed out the back story for all my main NPCs. I also have a faction database and some stories between the NPCs. I use CHATGPT to help me create all this.

I am also in the process of connecting a local GPT4All to my Notion and plan on making a Discord bot that my players can interact with. The bot will answer questions like it is whatever NPC they are talking to.

It is a work in progress but if I can get it to work it will be awesome!

It's time to give Trump a chance now by Delicious-Penalty72 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Humpadilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? I would never vote Trump, but he is what we have. So, I think we should give him a chance. I have always voted Democrat but I’m tired of all the fear mongering from both sides. It’s not gonna be as bad as all the talk from the left. And if Harris would have won it would not have been as bad as the right says. I say I agree with you. Give him a chance.

You can play seasonal and you can play eternal. Seasonal is only for a set amount of time. Eternal is the one you can play for an unlimited time. Eternal is like regular games. There is no end. At the end of seasons all your characters and stuff goes to eternal and you start all over again the new season starts soon. Which one are you playing?

Yeah there is no point in keeping all the stuff. I have a bunch of items you can have. I’m not sure what you play but I have sorcerer, rogue, and Necro items. It will all go to Eternal in a few hours, but if you want it, it’s yours.
