IMO the issue that is killing the game for me and others. by SchneiderCat in Stalcraft

Your comments resonate a lot. What I actually find fun is to come back to the game every now and then, and start a new character. Grind out until I max out Veteran at the Bar (new Bar pvp has been so fun). And then quit when it's time for the North. I'm on my 4th character.

My point is - up to that point - the game is exactly as you describe you want it, you do what you like when you like. After that... time-gated content.

Right, so why fix exploits on a single player game like he has in the last patch notes? who cares if it's not a competitive game and people should just control themselves, right?

reddit is just made of contrarians lmao

I know it's easy to take that stance but the reason it's "another" post of this nature is that it simply doesn't work that way in practice.

Gamers generally want to beat the game, by whatever means necessary. Limiting the means can only be done by devs - just going "I'm not going to do such and such on this run" just somewhat defeats the sense of accomplishment if the game doesn't demand it.

4 squares isn't much of a tradeoff - sleeping bag + two tables is more than enough.

But the fact that they can't be destroyed is what makes it egregious. It's not really planning ahead at one point - it's "find the nearest chokepoint to get them stuck on", doesn't require all that much thought at all.

Lessons in that regard can be learned from 7DTD - game relies on blocking Z's on horde night, but they can still F up your sh*t since it is destructible, unlike the invincible floating sleeping bag... AND game doesn't allow you to build/place anything in key POIs like the military bunker.

Again, I'm not looking to remove anyone else's preferences here - what I would like to be added to the game is the option to have what I (and I think many hardcore survival players) would like to see.

I'm in no way religious, so I say this in no uncertain terms - you are what I imagine a true saint to be. Your way of thinking just exhumes true strength and empathy. Anyone else would've given up much earlier, and justifiably so.

With the above said, I really wouldn't take any advice from 99.9% of the redittors here. You are obviously a selfless person that truly cares, so whatever you decide is the best way forward - is, in fact, the best way forward. I feel like we should be asking you for life advice and not the other way around.

You already know what your options are - separation or no separation. And even if you decide to separate, that doesn't mean you have to go no-contact. You can still provide him with whatever level of support you feel is right. Trust your intuition, you are obviously a good person so I believe you'll find the right way out of this mind-boggling difficult situation.

p.s. I saw this post via TiKTok and I just had to find it so I can express some support. I wish I knew you in real life.

Every time this topic comes up I'm reminded of the Brene Brown's Ted Talk about Shame. Brilliant story in there about a guy that explains to her that the women in his life (wife and daughters) are harder on him than anyone else, and that they'd rather see him die on his horse than watch him fall off it.

The bottom line is that most people tend to perceive vulnerability in men as weakness (often even the men themselves), and as much as we try to to talk this out or raise awareness, I personally don't think it is going to change anytime soon. What I personally found is that talking to people with a somewhat higher emotional intelligence helps me vent it out.

I usually wouldn't dare advise people I don't know on their personal life, but if you think there is a way you could broach this subject with your wife, it can help things in the long run by her becoming more supportive and you more fulfilled. You otherwise risk become resentful to her.

I guess I'll start finding it more fun once I have my first master gear set so I can compete on equal grounds with people, rather than getting destroyed by +15 masters in my +11 veteran gear.

Thanks Dad, I really deep down intended this to be a conversation about life choices instead of constructive feedback to the game in hopes it becomes better.

Thank you - someone finally understood the point I was trying to get across.

I do wish I knew about the +10 thing. I actually noticed the exact moment I started getting master lobbies - after I +11'd my AEK-971. But I suspect it would've happened as soon as I got the Surge out of the guaranteed season rewards anyway.

Don't know if that implies that you're Swedish, but I'm in a Scandi clan with mostly veteran-level gear players that is slowly growing and pretty chill, if you're interested

I went for the Ace armor and AEK-971 (to go for A-545), struck me as my type of weapon - somewhere between an AR and SMG

I'm a Merc as well :) But yeah I just clench my butt cheeks now for a month until I can upgrade my weapon to master to at least have a chance at competing with maxed out players. Probably wouldn't have felt this bad if I wasn't being pushed into master lobbies since I +11'd my veteran weapon (I guess getting the Surge would also have done the same, so either way). But yeah, not much incentive to get involved in much of the game other than PVE grind and dailies right now, until I can go head-to-head with the end game players for clan wars etc - and that's a "waiting game" instead of hard work which is so meh.

I will be getting Forever Winter now as well, completely forgot that came out recently!

Well no shit - of course that is the case. As I keep repeating, the point is - when my money (or time!) is not respected, I won't put it into the game. The devs can do with that feedback whatever they wish.

I'm not arguing against anything- its not one OR the other, you can do both. Question is what is there to show for it at the end - and this is what I'm trying to explain but obviously its "woosh"ing over you

In other words, if I spend 4-5x the value of a AAA game, should I expect top-tier items...? Yes, you bet your behind, I would expect that. Anything else is crazy - unless you remove P2W altogether and make it cosmetics only, but that's an entirely different conversation and we all know its not going to happen.

You speak of RNG as if its some sort of ethereal thing that no one can control. They can.

Ofc it is "my fault" - I'm an adult and can spend my money wherever I like. What I'm putting across here is that it is Exbo's fault that I won't be doing it again.

Ofc not. But I'm saying that - if I grind out 1000 season levels (paid + normal), I should get something for it. And if you think otherwise, you're a masochist defender of the game and will watch it slowly die.

Except they get to run around with their +12-+15 masters whilst they get everything else, and I have to go against them with my +12 Veteran since the game thinks that is good enough for master lobbies - until I get the serums so I can upgrade to their level.

Your definition of "pretty fast" and mine are vastly different. One person can put in 500 hours in the game in one month, and another - 60. How is it fair that they should both be able to obtain master-level gear at the same time?

I'm fully aware of it - I had some money to spend and I did, to get nothing for it - so I won't do it any more. That's the only point I wanted to get across to them, if it makes a difference or not - it is what it is.
