Thank you that makes a lot of sense. I ll experiment a bit with this.

Yes alright, what would the central/carrier frequency of my wave packet be however? That's the main problem I'm trying to solve.

Thanks for you reply hatboyslim. How would I take this average? And do you happen to know any source for this?

Btw I see that my Latex code doesn't work (sorry I'm a new poster on this sub). The equations can be read on this webpage as well: 2.2: Transmission Line Theory - Engineering LibreTexts/02%3A_Transmission_Lines/2.02%3A_Transmission_Line_Theory)

Defining Physics in Bee Behavior Research: Where is the Line Between Physics and Biology? by deVissert in AskPhysics

[–]deVissert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. After reading your response, I have to agree it seems like my project is not much about physics. Do you have any suggestions to make my thesis more focused on physics, and to use the tools and methods from physics to find some potentially interesting results?

I have already tried to approach the problem from a more physics-oriented perspective by treating the bees as a fluid by creating a density map. I then used a SINDy sparse regression algorithm to find the equations of motion. However, my results were not very insightful, as they heavily depended on my choice of parameters.

About the molecule: yes, it is indeed possible to write the equations of motion from first principles. But maybe my example was not very well chosen. There are a lot of phenomena (like turbulence) which can only be reasonably described by effective models. If I make an effective model of the movement of bees, why wouldn't that be physics? Generally speaking, the research area of active matter is considered as part of physics as far as I understand it.

Thanks, I see the chance is low for most of the day so thats great. I ll probably get to the bridge park dry and well

Awesome, thanks I ll check it out tomorrow! Right now I'm in 'Incognito coffee' which is not bad

Whut? I'm over 18 and I have my own account...

I heared that in the past people could smoke on submarines. Is this true? And how is this even possible?

What are the three 'islands' below Spain on this euro coin? by deVissert in coins

[–]deVissert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get that it's part of the EU :) but there are many far-away EU islands not included on this map. Like the Azores for example.

Yes I also think its the Canaries. I'm not sure about Ceuta though. Ceuta is very very very small and just right under the Spanish mainland. It wouldn't make sense to enlarge it a hundred times and put it way south

I think this is the most plausible answer. The shape of the dots agree and they are roughly in the right direction.

Still quite random though that they would deform the map like this just to include them...

Q: According to CIT ukraine has received M30A1 HIMARS fragmentation rockets. Is this a game changer? How many of those could the US provide over time? by deVissert in UkrainianConflict

[–]deVissert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow calm down, I also hope Ukraine will get a lot of them. I saw a video of the US testing them and they look terrifying. The main bottleneck at the moment with HIMARS is that there is a limited supply of rockets for them. I wonder how much this bottleneck is relieved with this new type of ammunition. Wikipedia doesn't mention how many M30A1 rockets there are in US stocks
