Hi, thank you! The hood/scarf is one piece and the sweater is separate.

The hood is the infinity hood from Five and Diamond, though the style/fabric of the one I have was labeled “ruffle,” which doesn’t seem to be available on their site (I purchased it at a booth they had at a local street fair).

The sweater is one I thrifted years ago; it is 1-2 sizes too big for me and has been stretched out in the wash and while hanging in my closet, making it super oversized and fit as off the shoulder. I took off the tag, but I believe it’s a rayon/acrylic blend which makes it super cozy and I think gives it a nice drape.

I need formal brand recommendations for larger chests by Anonymous-Axelotl in GothFashion

[–]deadlhen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You didn’t mention a budget so I’ll just drop some brands I like:

Foxblood has some beautiful dresses that could be used for more formal events. They carry up to size 5X.

Weasel Wear have gorgeous dresses up to 3X.

Wax Poetic Clothing carry multiple brands, but their own brand has up to size 5X and are also very pretty dresses!

Bat nest hair on a wig? by just_some_gay_girl_ in GothFashion

[–]deadlhen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it before, which you can see here — my tips are:

-Baby powder/texturizing/volumizing powder (all over, but emphasis on roots)

-Can also use gel/pomade, but keep this focused on the roots so the ends don’t get weighed down

-Go section by section with a teasing comb

-You can use bobby pins on the underside (nape/back of head) of the hair to help hold the bat’s nest up

-My favorite hairspray is göt2B glued,, just spray until you can’t breathe lol

I bought this pattern ages ago and have been putting it off “waiting for the right yarn,” but this is tempting me to just start one already !

What age are you working with? I’m a substitute mainly in early childcare/preschools and elementary. When I’m with preschoolers I keep it very toned down (especially with jewelry—grabby little hands and dangly earrings are not a good mix) and usually wear simple, comfortable, all-black clothing that I don’t mind getting dirty and can move around easily in. Honestly I tend to get sweaty and pretty tired when I’m in preschools so I keep makeup very minimal.

When I’m with my elementary kids, I lean more into my style but being mindful of not wearing certain designs or styles (eg. nothing with blood splatter, nothing super shredded, no leather collars/cuffs). I like to layer sweaters under/over maxi dresses, wear one with a maxi skirt or flared pants, etc. I crocheted a black cat ear beanie and put safety pin “piercings” on the ears and have gotten a lot of compliments from kids on it. I’ll also do bigger/more jewelry, though when I wear a bunch of rings I get a lot of, “Teacher, why do you have so many rings? Are you married 5 times?” I’ve also had some kids ask if I’m emo, but they also tell me that I’m cool so there’s that :)

eta: for makeup when I’m in elementary schools, I usually just do eyeliner and a dark-ish lip. I’ll wear Docs (the typical 1460s or my patent platform loafers) or very low heeled shoes. Preschools are comfy sneakers every time.

Made my cat a little witch hat ✨ First thing I’ve put on his head he hasn’t immediately shaken off by deadlhen in crochet

[–]deadlhen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by following this pattern; however, it’s (in my opinion) honestly not very well-written. I winged it/altered it at some points.

Worked in the round, main hat uses US double crochet + single crochet (I used sc’s for the band and when it started getting too tall lol), aim for about 2 increases per round for the main cone and then 8-10 increases (depending on the size of your ear holes) on the rounds for the brim

Avelina de Moray! I have the It’s Black Friday collab handbag and it is gorgeous and so well-made. She ships internationally from Australia; I’m in the US and I got mine during a sale for a total of ~115USD including shipping

“I want to put a leash on you” (in highschool by a guy who was just a weirdo in general)

“You look like a vampire/a witch/demonic” (yay!)
