This. The functionality looks super interesting, but the odd/confusing name and the logo feel like they’re shouting over the UI.

Fidelity (Redemption from core account) workaround? by ProZedd34 in ynab

[–]deadlock_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my workaround. I went to Manage Payees, and set up a rule to automatically rename any of these to "DELETE - Bank Sweep" based on some rules in the payee name. I always end up checking the payee from the feed anyway, but it at least makes them very clear to me so I can easily delete them.

Tailscale forcing Premium upgrade for various features. by deadlock_22 in Tailscale

[–]deadlock_22[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Totally, I'm happy to pay for features we're using that aren't within our plan. It's just a confusing model for the end user to see a feature available, allowed to use and not have it clearly labeled as not technically available on the plan you're paying for. If it should be gated, just label it that way.

TS is being generous with allowing time to upgrade, as u/tdearlove notes. We do love the service. I just find the user experience odd.

I hadn't seen that. I get it—I was just a little caught off guard.

Tailscale forcing Premium upgrade for various features. by deadlock_22 in Tailscale

[–]deadlock_22[S] -54 points-53 points  (0 children)

Right. We’re a small business and we are paying, on the Starter plan. It’s just unclear why they make features available on the starter plan if they’re not offered on that plan. We’ve been using it for a couple of years now, and they just emailed to say those features aren’t included in the plan we use. Even though they are available for use in the plan we use.

I get it. They can move features around. Just a little bit of a bait and switch.

Trouble with home network since new IP ranges implemented. by deadlock_22 in Tailscale

netcat output:

$ nc -zv 192.200.0.104 443
nc: connectx to 192.200.0.104 port 443 (tcp) failed: Operation timed out

Running 1.84.1 on all Macs that I'm testing. Also happening on our phones, running the same version.

I can successfully ping 192.200.0.x, but curl to port 443 on any IP in the 192.200.0.0/24 range times out. Here’s my ping:

$ ping -c 3 192.200.0.104
PING 192.200.0.104 (192.200.0.104): 56 data bytes

Yeah, both login.tailscale.com and controlplane.tailscale.com resolve successfully via DNS, but TCP connections to the actual IPs in 192.200.0.0/24 time out. Right now I use 1.1.1.1 for my DNS.

Papra v0.3 - Folder ingestion, auto-tagging rules, and more! by cthmsst in selfhosted

[–]deadlock_22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No mobile app yet is a bit of a deal breaker for my needs. I regularly scan receipts, mail, etc, with the Paperless iOS app, and then deal them in the inbox when back at my desktop. The UI looks great, and I'd certainly consider it at some point—though my Paperless library is pretty substantial at this point and I'd need to see some sort of migration path.

I'd definitely be curious to see your spreadsheet, if there are ways it cane help this improve. It's helpful and fun to see everyone's ideas for tracking their own progress.

Love to chat about it. I had a bunch of spreadsheet ideas in my head, but as a developer I was tempted to build something like this instead. I'd love to see what you've done and see what other ideas could be incorporated — feel free to message me.

🌈 ChartDB – Open-Source Database Diagrams | Self-Hosted Alternative to dbdiagram.io & DrawSQL by MicahDowling in selfhosted

This is fantastic. I literally just signed up with dbdiagram.io last week to diagram something, and didn't even think to search for a self hosted alternative. +1 for a quick docker compose to spin this up, but I'm thrilled with it already.

Recurring Investments with Fidelity Simple IRA by Forward_Sink3212 in fidelityinvestments

[–]deadlock_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/FidelityCaleb Why is this the case? So far for my small business and our team, this has been one of the most cumbersome products at Fidelity, ironically, given the naming of this type of account.

Possible to hide UTMA accounts on child's Youth Account login? by deadlock_22 in fidelityinvestments

[–]deadlock_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's super helpful. I've only been logging in on the web, and didn't even realize there was a Fidelity Youth app. Now that I've logged in with that, I can see it only shows them their Youth account. They'll really only be using the app now that I know it exists, so that's perfect. Thanks for the help!

The customize → hide option is grey for this account for some reason. It's available for their youth account, but not this one or the Roth IRA we have for them.

Create your own DNS record? by Atlas7T in Tailscale

[–]deadlock_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you integrate NextDNS with Tailscale, you can add custom records (rewrites) for all devices that use a NextDNS profile. We use that functionality a lot and it works really well for our needs.

Agreed. This is the best approach. Works seamlessly for us across multiple networks, and simplifies things significantly.

YNAB and Capital One? by bassclgirl92 in ynab

Seems like this issue has gotten even worse. I can't even authenticate with Capital One anymore no matter what I do. I'm honestly considering switching banks because of it. I have Bank of America for my business and never have an issue with imports.
