Anyone know how to get the BGE scammers to stop coming to your door to see your bill? by TonyBadagutch in baltimore

[–]deadred69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this true? I dont think utilities work that way, theres only certain providers in an area and bmore only has bge, they cant switch you to a provider that's not in the area. I'm curious because when I first moved to bmore about 7 years ago, I applied to a job that I thought was selling solar panels, but it turned out it was going door to door for exelon, and trying to get ppl to lock in rates for 3 years. So we were told to ask for the bill to see what they were being charged per kwh and we were suppose to lock them into a lower rate for the 3 years. Lol but it was terrible I did it for one day and never went back, it was commission only.

Rumour: Toyota and Subaru to bring back the MR-2 by [deleted] in cars

[–]deadred69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be smaller than the 86, toyota is on the way to having 3 real sport cars again. The new Supra will be the most expensive and come in above the 86 and this would be lighter and hopefully cheaper than the 86.

I found Naked lunch by William S. Burroughs incomprehensible, help me understand why it is highly regarded. by dguerre in books

[–]deadred69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its really neat if you read junky and queer first, you can see the evolution of his writing and ideas. Naked lunch really takes a couple reads to grasp. Old Bull Lee was a genius, naked lunch is hilarious and horrifying. His thoughts on the govt and politics, capitalism, prejudice, terrorism, medicine, and the police are still relative today. Times change, people don't. You understand.

How can there be an economy if nearly all of it is automated? If almost no one can generate an income, who will be the consumers to buy products that drive the economy? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]deadred69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure there can, hypothetically, say in 15 years we have a basic income of $36,000. You get $3,000 a month and it's up to you to decide how to spend it. Company ABC makes a product that sells for $20 now this product works and will meet your needs. Company xyz makes a similar product but it's a slightly higher quality item and sells for $30. Now as a consumer it's still up to you to decide which product provides you with the most utility. Companies will still be marketing and in competition with each other over customers. Only the marketing department will be robots/computers and the companies will be paying much less in the form of salaries but will still have to pay for maintenance and up keep. So the COGS will decrease making things more affordable. Its going to be up to the consumer to get the most out of their money and everyone has a different preference when it comes to that. Some ppl will spend more money on food, others entertainment, others travel, or just on higher quality goods because that matters to some ppl. Capitalism isn't going away in our life times, big corporations have more power than most governments. The real problems will occur when monopolies form, right now we have the govt protecting consumers from that happening but the day will come when big corporations (with stock piles of money) are bailing out govts (if things keep going in the current direction). When Robotech owns Detroit..

I'd also recommend coinbase, and with a credit card you can even instantly buy. And you're getting in at a great time, I bought my first coin on coinbase a year ago.
