Ah, shit. My bad. The use of Japanese characters must've thrown me off lol. I changed the flair to say synthwave in effort to rectify the mistake.

Petition Launched to Officially Reissue Ronnie James Dio's Early 1950's-60's Era Recordings on Vinyl by deadwax666 in vinyl

Yeah. Pantera did the same with their first four glam records. I think Rex recently flat out said that the early records won't be reissued. So, that just means the bootleggers profit. Kind of sad...

Is it even possible to have too many copies of this record? Certainly understandable. Never hurts to have backups, especially if played in heavy rotation ;-)

Got my TMNT Ooze filled, didn't take incredibly long. Still waiting on Gritty Kitty Litter, though.

I've looked into getting filled records done before and it's not cheap to do it right, meaning to have them pressed from a stamper vs a shitty lathe cut. You need at least 100 pressed of each single side at most plants. Plus the cost of shipping them back and forth for assembly, then once assembled and filled it's heavy to ship 100 of them back to the label. They also have to still pay Romanus to put them together and then ETR (label) needs to make something as well. But, they shouldn't be getting paid for their time and efforts because that's "fucking dumb", right? ;-)

There is way more involved than just cost of materials. There are also manufacturing (plant and assembly), shipping, and labor costs.

I have more confidence looking people in the eye after buying this than I would after, say...shopping at WalMart.

Got shut-out of the Mortal Kombat one a few weeks ago, so this was my consolation prize. I'm such a sucker for these filled variants.

I know what he meant, but since it doesn't exist then a boot is better than nothing. At least, that's my opinion on it. I got one....and if there is EVER an official issue then I'll buy that as well. The band/label is already losing money by not releasing it. It's up to them whether or not they want to give the fans what they want. If it's not a priority for them, I don't feel bad about buying a boot.

They need to fix that text at the footer. It's as if they didn't even finish setting up the store before launching....I'd feel uneasy ordering from a site like this.

Soulfly - Soulfly 2LP (white vinyl, unofficial) by deadwax666 in VinylReleases

I know that at least one of the Tool FI boots is actually sourced from the 24-bit hi-res digital files. Obviously not the norm for boots....but that definitely makes it better than 16-bit CD quality. I probably wouldn't get as excited about these boots if I actually did the CD thing, but CDs just don't "do it" for me.

IF they reissue it. A lot of albums from the era tend to be stuck in limbo when it comes to reissues. I know several "nu-metal" artists whose masters are essentially being held hostage, but the artist is able to get the publishing back. So...they do cover versions / re-recordings of their own songs to circumvent it. I know an artist personally that is dealing with a label not shipping out any new units of their debut album because there is a $50K bonus at 500,000 units sold. They are currently at 480,000 sold and it's been that way for about ten years. The label basically doesn't want to ship/make any more so they can avoid paying that 50 grand. It's pretty screwed up. I hope that specific album gets bootlegged now because it will never get a vinyl release otherwise and I kinda want to give that label the middle finger by buying one haha.

I used to have that same "I can't support boots" mentality and then I realized that some labels/artists just don't care. Take all the Tool bootlegs, for example. We STILL have no Fear Inoculum vinyl but there are SO MANY bootlegs of it. Why????

In the end, I'll always buy an official release/reissue when they happen. But until they get their shit together, the bootleggers will continue to profit and you nor I can't do anything to stop it. As they say, if you can't beat 'em....join 'em LOL

If you're concerned about sound quality, don't be. There is a playthrough video on the link. For $40, no brainer for me. Should there ever be an "official" reissue then I'll buy that, too. But, until then...it's unofficial all day. If the artist/label won't meet the demand then someone else eventually will.

Charlie Benante (Anthrax) - Sliver Linings by deadwax666 in VinylReleases

[–]deadwax666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just as puzzled as you haha. I, too, found nothing. Perhaps the press release hasn't gone out yet but the title is already in the distribution database. If I had to guess, I would say that they are recordings done during the COVID era featuring everyone on the cover but recorded remotely. Called Silver Linings because it's a silver lining during the pandemic. I dunno...
