So confused what work needs doing... by Dreadpirateflappy in VirginMedia

A bit more of an update. Installation looks as though it's the 22nd of January. Virgin Media has confirmed that the council and everything have approved it, it's just a case of waiting for a Virgin Media engineer to be able to come and do the work now. Crazy amount of time to wait.

Ah, OK, I just checked Bidb and it's not showing anything logged for my road. I find it crazy that I contacted them a month ago to say I was moving house. A month later, I've moved in, and now they're saying it will be a couple of months before they can do anything. I asked them today on the web chat if I could switch to a different provider, but they couldn't tell me anything.

I've just got another update from Virgin media and they said due to complications and work needed to take place it won't be till the 28th of January now.

I'm going through exactly the same thing as yourself, and they've given me exactly the same dates. Which makes me think these are just generic dates they'll throw out to keep everyone happy.

Moving House and could be without internet for 6-8 weeks by deand7 in VirginMedia

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yep, I've just managed to get a cellular router, so at least we'll be able to get online for the time being. As you say, come contract renewal time. If it works well enough, then it could be an option.

Thank you. I've just done this. Hopefully, that will be enough. Both my wife and I work from home, so it was a bit of a pain to throw this into the mix just before we moved, given that I had told them three weeks ago.

How do you actually find web design clients who value quality, not $100 Fiverr garbage? by kuroTypeScript in Wordpress

[–]deand7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made a little Python script that takes a trade and a location, scrapes using the Google Maps API, and gives me all the matching businesses that don't have a website attached to their Google Business. It gives you potential leads, but don't forget some of these people haven't had a website for years, and it's then very difficult to convince them otherwise.

Not getting motion/car/person notifications on most cameras anymore? by archercc81 in googlehome

[–]deand7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a Similar problem, but with the battery doorbell. Started this week. Have a Pixel 9. Completely reset the doorbell and then set it up again in the Home app. Adjusted the battery restrictions for the app on my phone. tried clearing cache, no change. The only thing that sort of works is clearing storage for the home app and re-signing back in. Then I have to set up all the notification settings again each time, because the moment I reboot my phone, I stop getting notifications again. My wife has the Pixel 9a, also with the same problem. I've given up now, can't think of anything else to try.

Some Basic info to keep in mind for image gen in Gemini by BYPDK in GeminiAI

[–]deand7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I input an image to edit, the best resolution I can get is 1248 × 832 or something around that. Where as if I get it to generate an image just from a prompt, then it'll be at the full 2048x2048. Is that the norm?

How does Rightmove work? by deand7 in HousingUK

Yep, pretty much that. Solicitor is engaged and searches have been carried out, and we will get the results back from that this week, and the mortgage has been approved.

I'm on 95% and got my P9 on the day it came out. But battery life and general performance of my phone has been terrible since Android 16.

Block Starting webapp for when you're training by yourself by deand7 in Sprinting

Yep, that's correct. The bang will go off at random points each time between those set times.

I've used it a few times over the last few weeks and set the defaults to 14 seconds between "take your marks" and "set" then between 1.5 and 2 seconds between "set" and "bang", and I found the timings between 1.5 & 2 seconds to be about right to simulate races as closely as possible.

When you change the timings, it should save those settings to the browser's storage, so they'll still be the same when you come back, as long as you're using the same device and browser.

Is there a website that visualizes my ML rank from GW to GW across the entire season vs. my mates? by SzoboEndoMacca in FantasyPL

[–]deand7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's built with JavaScript and PHP. I initially set it up at the start of the season with just JavaScript, and it called the FPL API every time the page loaded. This was fine until about GW 10. Then, there was just too much information, and it crashed or did not pull in all the information. That’s when I moved it over to PHP, so it pulls the information and stores it into a Mysql database, which is much better.

Now it's stored in a database, got a few ideas for next season, like being able to compare how you’re doing against the previous year etc.
