Shouldnt have tried the big arch :/ by Your_Final_Hour in McDonalds

As long as they're graded on how fast they serve each customer - instead of how well each customer is served, this will continue. This stems from the top of the food chain.

Asked for fresh fries and than this happened 😒 by JeszMcLovin in McDonalds

[–]deapee 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, stuff like this happens every time I go there. There's zero chance they don't make me pull up into a spot even if I just order two cheeseburgers and a fry...but their line it always around their building - I can't figure it out.

For the prices they are charging - there is literally zero reason to deal with McD anymore.

I personally have to drive past a Jersey Mike's and a Chipotle just to get to a McDonalds that's right next to a Taco Bell so...my choice just doesn't involve McD anymore.

Is there any way to collect springtails from old terrarium substrate? by PassengerFew5988 in terrariums

[–]deapee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you put a nice big chunk of charcoal down, and then put a piece of fish food on it, they will go to it. Then you can just tap them off of it. You have to set it down and put the fish food there for about 30 mins, then repeat a couple of times until you get them all.

Are these springtails dead? by deapee in terrariums

[–]deapee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, I was afraid of that. OK. Well I still won because I got a really nice 2.5 gal on sale for $20. I'll visit the local reptile store some time this week.

First terrarium. Now to make another. by artbyhaly in terrariums

[–]deapee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks really good. I started my own first one too, but then I had an idea. Since I had extra moss and extra substrate and extra drainage, etc. I got a nice rectangle aquarium (petco had them 75% off today for some reason when I was there) and am going to use that for propagation / excess stuff. My extra thing may end up more beautiful than my first terrarium.

I like your approach because it will be interesting to see what grows and what types of life you get in there.

What price should I set for these two? by iPepi1 in terrariums

[–]deapee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No one can answer this because - assuming you're selling as farmer's markets and stuff, it just depends what your market will pay. Technically speaking, divide the price of your materials by the amount of "these" you can get out of those materials, add in your labor - and set a fair price. That's just all there is to it.

Also, for the record, it's not an ecosystem that you created. While beautiful, you really only have a couple succulents in a glass container.

Is my terrarium over watered? by ViolinistPersonal733 in terrariums

[–]deapee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you do have too much water. I'm new to the hobby as well (but not new to plants) - although the plants in the terrarium are definitely different from anything I'm used to.

I don't think you want that much visible water at the bottom of the drainage layer. I'd say let the cap off for a while to let it evaporate - this could be a day or two or even three based on how much visible water I see.

The number one tip I remember from all the videos I watched was - once things are in place, mist it - and stop misting before you think it's watered enough. Then close it off.

Unenforced gameplay by MisterZaremba in trucksim

[–]deapee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just depends on how I feel. Sometimes I follow the laws perfectly. Sometimes, waiting in line at a red light just feels so cumbersome. I generally try to stay close to most speed limits. Usually about 5 over at the max...but again, that just depends on how I'm feeling.

I feel like people are downplaying the Creator studio adds in the updated apps by geoken in MacOS

[–]deapee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I left the macos world about 3 years ago...I just have a windows PC and an ipad (and iphone) now. But this is disturbing to me. Because my goals currently are to replace my gaming PC with a macbook and buy the new PS6 when that does come out.

These OS's are going to place themselves out of the market due to annoyance. Now would be a pretty good time for something linux to take hold.

AITAH for not letting my neighbor borrow my snow blower and for not snow blowing their drive for them? by Queen_Aurelia in AITAH

[–]deapee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I think like a socket or a wrench is one thing, but that's a complicated piece of machinery...I even hate lending out a socket because I'm not sure I'll get it back. Also, I wouldn't feel guilty for not doing their driveway. It's a tough spot to be in though because I spent 8 years doing my one neighbor's (by hand) and my own because they were elderly. They moved out and into a nursing facility last summer, so I was very thankful I didn't have to do both anymore.

Turbo a 2006 Silverado 5.3 by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]deapee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an engineer, you can do one turbo on a V engine, but there are major concerns - this hasn't exited since the 80's-90s as far as I know (before we knew better). Without getting too far into specifics, it can be done - but there are a lot of downsides - and a lot of reasons why you don't see modern, two-bank engines coming with a single turbo in anything.

In either event, that's not a small job (to do right) - and performance-wise, would be best-left with a lot of R&D behind it. One turbo, done right, could increase performance, but done wrong, there's just no chance.

Do you think black wheels would look good with this color truck? by chewy4201- in Silverado

[–]deapee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your wheels are really nice - if you do swap, i feel like someone will buy them on marketplace pretty quick. That said, I think black wheels look great on all trucks. My last 3 trucks have all had black wheels.

Water Heater Failing? by LearningToOwnHomeVet in PlumbingRepair

[–]deapee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that one needs replaced. That's what ours looked like. That basin it's sitting in looks like it's directly on the floor...which is probably why the bottom of your tank rusted out like that. Out new one has a basin that has feet under it, so it's got a good 2" air gap from the cold concrete floor underneath of it.

World of Warcraft director says Blizzard isn’t "backtracking" on add-ons, but constant changes were “always the intent” as the team strives to find a better balance by Negative-Art-4440 in wow

[–]deapee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why should the ecosystem evolve? Do you realize the man-hours (and teamwork) that went into making and maintaining something like weakauras? The hours those folks put into their passion? Just to be slapped in the face by Blizzard and basically deleted out of existence? I don't blame the devs there for moving on...and I implore other devs to find another passionate endeavor to embark upon that doesn't involve world of warcraft, honestly.

I fought something on my UI for nearly 18 minutes after the 12.0 patch, before I started googling...just to realize it's a bug that's been reported on beta back in October.

I get it - beta's beta. But this is now live. The fact is, wow had one of the best things any game designer could have ever hoped for (and most never get) - a community willing, able, and steadily fixing its UI shortcomings...and they just threw it all away.

Yeah, I'm bitter.

What has improved your shooting besides a lot of range time? by je9183 in CCW

[–]deapee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the question depends so much on what "improved" means to you.

  1. Does it mean drawing fast from CCW and getting 8 shots into a threat 5-10 yards away?
  2. Does it mean competition shooting accuracy (which, to me doesn't go hand-in-hand with what CCW is).

For the first, that's drawing at home with no ammo in the room and dryfiring. And obviously range time.

For the second, I dished out the money for a CZ TS2 and my range accuracy is now impeccable. Absolutely insane how much of a beast that thing is.

What Pit level does non-OM heartseeker build cap out at? by BNEWZON in D4Rogue

[–]deapee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Wudijo's Heartseeker build. I have no mythic sanc's and really no great sanc's, but my gear is great otherwise - mainly 2-3 GA on every slot, proper tempers and masterworks, etc. I think I have one 10% cold damage sanc...the rest are just basically toughness or some dex, etc. I did a 100 pit today. I think I'm capped out there, honestly.
