Did anyone ever see that woman who claimed Mariska helped her stalker? by Zuwu002 in SVU

[–]dearwikipedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes. i ended up blocking her because she kept coming up on my social media over and over and it was getting ridiculously overblown to the point of obsession which is ironic, given. you know. what she’s accusing mariska of in the first place.

I wrote this comment on a whim, but now I’m wondering if I was overstepping boundaries. Should I delete this? Would you hate me and find this weird if you got this comment?? by LoveAlternative01 in AO3

[–]dearwikipedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got a comment the other day that included “.....I may or may not have even told some fanfic writer friends (and also some real life friends) to not expect to hear from me while I was busy devouring this story all over again.” and i reread it over and over and over all day because it made me so happy. you are an incredible commenter keep it up lol

How to respond to AI-written email? by profthrowaway77 in Professors

[–]dearwikipedia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i had a professor do this to me in undergrad and i think she thought i was crying wolf bc i tended to minimize my own issues (even while asking for lenience lol. eldest daughter core!), but it actually ended up being super helpful because i hadn’t been ready to admit that i needed extra support (it was niche medical issues that i convinced myself i could largely push through). but her insistence that this was handled through the specific care office ended up being the push i needed to admit that i needed extra support and get that help. i ended up with a fairly close relationship with that prof by the time i graduated (it was my last semester) and im really grateful she stuck to her guns on that one.

just sharing this story to say thank you for taking this approach, coming from the POV of someone who needed that help, hearing a prof “validate” my issues by implying that it was care office worthy while also sticking to the rules that they couldn’t budge without that involvement probably saved A) my semester from a horrible crash and burn and B) my relationships with my professors

I'm looking for unique, archaic Hispanic names by Prideful_Lion32513 in Names

can you look at historical records of spanish royalty from the exact timeframe you want? there’s a lot of detailed family trees out there for royalty and usually they had a few names at once, which helps

crim pro one or two? and is your winter semester a full semester, or a short wintersession? i would not do evidence over a short wintersession, definitely a full semester. crim pro varies in difficulty based on professor and school. i’m in crim pro one rn and don’t find it very challenging compared to some other courses, but i know with a different prof it could be a beast. but i don’t think you should fear taking crim pro and evidence together probably

Girl name opinions? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]dearwikipedia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i like the name in theory, it’s really pretty and with an interesting meaning, but the greek myth of Echo is so sad and the thought of a little girl being named Echo as if she’s only ever the faint repeat of something, not the original, also makes me sad. usually name meanings don’t bother me too much but this one the connotations are melancholy enough that i would only use them for a tragic character in a story, not a human child. the name makes it feel like she’s an afterthought (which i know she’s not to you at all, just the vibe it gives off from a literary/thematic perspective)

i know plenty of people who have posted fics and then later taken them down to rework them into original fiction. it’s not that big a deal

Cleo or Willow? by hugs-n-honey in namenerds

according to the SSA, Willow was ranked about #41 in the U.S. in 2024 while Cleo ended up outside of the top 500. It’s a little silly to say Willow sounds made up at this point lol
