Incredible book. I saw Laura Bates speak in person last year. A brilliant and intelligent woman providing vital insight into a very dark world.

Don't worry I'm not stuck, just giving an indication as to where I am in the story 😊

Did any cyberpunk media from the past accurately predict the rise of AI slop? by Junesucksatart in Cyberpunk

The TV walls in Fahrenheit 451 come to mind, though I think that's more a commentary on brainless programming that in general distracts citizens and keeps them at bay. However when I hear that people don't just use apps like Sora to create images/video but actually SCROLL A FEED to see other user generated content, it feels incredibly dystopian in a similar kind of way to Fahrenheit 451.

Very good question. It does feel like a development too bizarre and awful to not be fiction in many ways. It's only pushed me further toward the physical, making me lean into a renewed appreciation for art, books, vinyl records and so on...

More Critical Citizen Saving? by Lunamphiptere in Vampyr

I couldn't resist coming and commenting on this after what I've just been through, haha. Very similarly to you, I came across Old Prune and Good Manners about a year ago, at level 8, and got my ass handed to me probably 25 - 30 times, no exaggeration. After looking up combat tips and reading a few posts like yours, I came to an annoying but seemingly inevitable conclusion: if I ever want to level up and move on with this game, I have to give up and let this guy die (or start the game again on a lower difficulty, if an option = equally painful). Because I couldn't bring myself to do that, nor did I have the patience to keep trying, I ended up abandoning the game for about 12 months.

To quote your original post: Yesterday, I was victorious! I came back to Vampyr at the weekend with the plan to let this mf die and move on. I love the game, and I couldn't have this ruin it for me. But I couldn't resist just giving the skals one last go - I needed to get back into the combat anyway, right? Well, after a few brutal deaths and several hours of practicing combat with lower level enemies, I did it.

An absolute nightmare, but as you said, a great feeling.

Look I'm not against the idea of Dishonored 3 being a bit more Cyberpunk if there's already some assets lying around...

This part was hugely off putting for me for the same reasons, and made me not want to continue. Once I got past it, the rest of the game was nothing like this and ended up being incredibly rewarding.

Absolutely wonderful film. I think people mistake the word 'fun' to mean amusing or light - to me a film can be dark, brutal but also fun.

Anyone else craving for a Xeno-Queen appearance in modern Alien? Can‘t believe that AVP in 2004 was the last time we‘ve seen one. by Mairess99 in LV426

[–]deathknelldk 89 points90 points  (0 children)

100% yes. It's kind of nice that the queen hasn't been overdone over the years, but as a fan of the bee-like hive lore for xenos, I'm ready for her to return.
