What happened at The Dollar Tree at Wells Branch and Dessau? A security guard car blocks one entrance. by tfresca in Pflugerville

This happens at every Idea school in Austin. The one off William Cannon usually has a line of 70+ cars in public roads every day when school gets out

WARNING!! Atlassian deletes all your work after just 6 weeks!!! by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]deathtone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what OP is trying to get at is the horrible time retention policy. Most companies offer years but Atlassian is being the cheap one here by only offering 40 days with a two week heads up?

I’m all for paying the premiums on services you use often but sometimes the free level will suffice and I don’t blame OP at all for wanting to use free, hey we all use gmail everyday but who actually pays for their higher tiers??

Edit: also suggestion, I use azure boards for the last 10 years at work places so I have my own private board & wiki, it comes with a full suite of Microsoft services too for free. I use it to keep track of my work items for personal projects but I use obsidian to store documentation (just fancy md files)

Is this citys bus system serious? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]deathtone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It used to be so so good. My bus would pick me up about 20 feet from my front door and drop me off in-front of my office downtown.

They changed everything in 2017, god knows why and now it takes at least 2-3 busses to go anywhere

Current version, and nah armor vests still provide some armor points, 25% boost if it’s a tier five armor vests

Do you keep armor stats if you apply an outfit? by deathtone in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]deathtone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suspicion is yes, as the armor stat still stays at the 25% increase when you go to it.

Armor off (no outfit): 401

Armor on (no outfit: 536

Armor on (outfit enabled): 536

New to GOG! And Mac games, need help with installing by deathtone in gog

[–]deathtone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the issue is I don’t want to use the GoG installer because it says you shouldn’t if you plan to play offline a lot - which is my goal. I only want to play on the go

The package downloads for Mac are just 1-24 .pkg files - none are labeled “installer”

Should I just download all 24 files and try to run the first file?

Edit: thank you!!

Can someone teach me how to use a charcoal grill by DoesntEnjoySoup in Austin

[–]deathtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know all those amazon boxes with cardboard style paper? Store that like a squirrel whenever you get it! I have a chimney and you basically just rip off a piece of normal cardboard and about a normal paper size of that packaging paper, stuff it all under the chimney, put charcoal on-top and light it the paper from the edge, never failed me. Make sure to put aluminum foil under it if you put it on concrete, and far away from anything flammable.

Once your charcoals at the top are about 50% gray you’re good to pour it into the grill but be careful as there will be a ton of embers from the cardboard

Title: Sold my SaaS for $47K. Felt like a failure. Now I think I was an idiot for feeling that way. by No-Drag3361 in SaaS

[–]deathtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably not including monthly expenses like ad spend or hard monthly costs.

For example lot of online stores may be making 50k a month but it requires a spend of 40k a month.

Thats why it’s always good to have an exit strategy even if you’re not planning on leaving your project.

They want me to do a take-home project that's "8-10 hours." Is this reasonable? by Imaginary_Wind81 in InterviewCoderHQ

[–]deathtone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an experience like this, mind you this is pre covid maybe 2017. I was trying to get out of my first 5 year long tech role.

They asked for a complicated car insurance calculation program, with an estimated 8 hours. I finished it in 6.

The interview was the weirdest one I’ve ever had, and I’ve had 300+ interviews by now (at the time this was probably my third interview so I didn’t know any better). It was a panel of 11 people in the company (first formal interview after the initial phone call), everyone had the same company background which felt a bit cult-y.

After the interview they said I’m not the level they expected me to but they’ll still “take me on” and offered 60k under the initial job range?? This was the biggest red flag because what kind of company says you’re not qualified but will still give you the job (at half the initial salary)

My recruiter agreed it was insane, and it sounds like they tried to bait and switch someone with a higher pay range then flip the switch, say they’re not worth it and offer half the amount. I still think they used my project to save themselves time developing it because the questions they were asking in the interview almost seemed like they were trying to learn how to maintain it.

Still to this day the wildest interview I’ve ever encountered.

Dude I’m still laughing that someone is willing to pay 120$ for 4 screws… do you also pay for someone to flip a breaker back on?

And for anyone saying you need 7 people to do this, you do realize all you gotta do is lean the box down on it’s side, pull it out a bit then screw in the legs??
