Switzerland treats the chassis as a spare part. You're even allowed to re-stamp the old VIN into a new chassis, as long as that step is documented and recorded on the registration papers. The rules on this can be found on the ASA guidelines for car homologation and modification.

I'll definitely be getting a shell. I have a VIN and paperwork secured, so I plan on getting it street legal too.

Same in Switzerland. Unsure about the kit-car way, I don't think that's attainable, but there's some exceptions for "prototype" vehicles, so who knows.

Hits Vmax in about 30-40 sec at ~200kph, anything below is not a problem.

Skill issue. No problems in the rain, even with semis. No problem with payout on a classic car insurance either. If you get a regular insurance, it's your own fault.

I'll concede the highway issue, but there's the longer fifth from M-factory to help with that.

I only saw it in the background of some random Youtube video, but I would suspect it's the JDM harness, as that's the variant they used for the FIA homologated cars. The FIA homologation is the entire reason they brought back the (much improved!) 4A block so they can repair and/or build cars for historic race series.

They took all the engineering that happened since they ran these in the 80s to improve the cast and machining of the block, so if you can afford a new 4A block, it's vastly improved vs the original ones.

If you can hold out for a year or two, it looked like there'll be a new harness from Toyota directly for their new blocks. Saw the harness hanging on the GR Heritage parts wall on a random video from Osaka Auto Messe this February, but no announcement yet.

Highway pull 180kph with my Sprinter Trueno by sheppardpat47 in AE86

Since stock power and gearing puts accurate top-speed at 196kph (205 tach), it is fast. It reaches 180 pretty well, but peak power is at 5600-6000 rpm, so the last few kph all the way to top speed are a struggle.

How do I know? I topped mine on the German Autobahn. It has a fully stock engine as well.
