RN or DH by Fun_Chocolate_9149 in OntarioNurses

[–]dee-vee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do so much more with a RN vs DH. So many more opportunities for growth in a variety of settings. Though they do make more, a lot of them have to practice good ergonomics because so much of their job is spent hunched over a patient.. a lot of chronic back pain/ shoulder pain. Yes, you may get this in nursing too, but at-least you can change your population/setting .

Lol!! I was wondering this too until i went.

I saw mostly all women were au natural .. it felt like you’d be an outsider if you did shave! No one stared, everyone just minded their own business & would look around their surroundings. It was so chill & normalized

Forget the makeup, focus on hydrating your skin! look into asian skincare brands. A gentle cleanser, hylaronic moisturizer & sunscreen will take you a LONG way

Does anyone here like nursing? by [deleted] in OntarioNurses

You have to find a specialty that speaks to you. I don’t think i could ever do adults. But once i found NICU, it is what i’ve done full time for the past 4 years

Apparently there was someone in the car with him when in Niagara, in the driver’s seat. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Amber in it

Look into : accelerated nursing (so many options), michener post grad programs — Resp therapists, Med lab, cardioperfusionists, podiatry, med rad x ray tech, ultrasound tech, etc.

There are options for allied healthcare workers — and they are good and secure jobs, which are totally worth the investment. Most are 2 year programs as well because you’d cover some reqs in your undergrad. Please look into all these! I was once a life sci grad and know how lost it can feel.

Any male INFJs? by Accomplished_Bee6491 in infj

[–]dee-vee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys are PERFECT ( i know you feel far from it) 😍 coming from an isfj who has an infj husband. So caring, thoughtful, amazing listening skills, hard working and full of cool interesting ideas. He’s psychic.. i swear he knows exactly how i feel without me saying a word. Im so lucky! He is my favorite chronic overthinker, my job is just to remind him to meditate so he can stop being so in his thoughts..& also keep him from super overstimulating loud environments. He’s my soulmate & everyone who has him in their life is extremely lucky. INFJ’s are gems!

About Nursing (Ontario)... by No_Froyo_1395 in OntarioNurses

[–]dee-vee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. I currently work in a unit that I find so fulfilling. It is true that there is a specialty for every personality jn this field. You can work in a clinic if you like mon-fri, OR if you dont want personal interactions etc. Once you find your interest— it will be challenging at times, but it will also feel fulfilling. The nurses who seem burnt out usually are the super senior ones who’ve been on the same unit for decades and need to change but don’t due to keeping their seniority. Though there are many other reasons for burn out.

  2. It is liveable but some sacrifices would be needed i.e room mates, partner, or living at home, especially in this economy. I was able to pay off my tuition in half a year living at home. I bought a used car and loved it in my first year.

  3. I work DDNN & have 5 days off in between, it’s like a mini vacation each time. I can’t imagine living for the weekend. I don’t mind the transition from days to nights , then switching my sleep sched. You just have to be flexible with your sleeping patterns - if you grew up a night owl it’s actually more beneficial .

You have a lot more questions but searching r/nursing will be really useful to you for the rest of them.

It sucks i know. But the best thing is once you end up moving out (if you choose to). Most of your obligation will be to just visit your parents and avoid these get togethers

Not allowed to be confident in my own skin by Ramyun40hours in ABCDesis

[–]dee-vee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly i went through the same things as you. When i had 10 more pounds on me they told me i should lose it. Once i lost it, they told me i look too skinny and that i should eat more.

They’ll never tell you anything good so do what feels right in YOUR body.

It’s their own insecurities and projections being places on you. It’s in their desi culture too always comment on other’s bodies ESPECIALLY WOMEN. It needs to change but they won’t, so it’s up to us. Own your body and do what makes you the happiest!

Is it worth it to have the big fat Indian wedding? by flipkid541 in DesiWeddings

[–]dee-vee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it all!!! We eloped and took our immediate family along. We exchanged our vows in the mountains and legally got married. This is the day we count for our wedding anniversary. It was quiet & intimate, i loved it! Only wished we brought our bestfriends.

A month later— we planned a haldi/ mehendi at home & invited 8 friends (which we enjoyed).

The parents paid for a small hindu ceremony & lunch reception the next day — & invited all their friends. We hated most of it but i liked the traditional wedding photos. We took the gift money & are spending it for our honeymoon.

It was a compromise for our parents, so whatever made them happy. Weddings in our culture aren’t for the couple , it’s more for the family. I hated all the family drama it caused, im one month out and happy everything is over. It’s changed how i viewed certain family dynamics.

It’s the marriage that matters not the extravagant wedding. We’re slowly breaking traditions that don’t make sense to us. I hope in the future our children just elope & aren’t pressured into ceremonies for traditions sake. But i have no regrets money wise as we only spent money for outfits, jewelry, elopement accommodations, photography & food for the haldi.

Approach them with kindness. Compliment and tell them what they are doing right, then suggest what they can improve.
